So where does he live now, US ?

How about this... If Nash became some undesirable criminal type that was unwelcome in US or Canada.... could he be deported to S. Africa ? :missingte

OK then, once you are a citizen, then that's your country is what you guys are saying,I guess.

Then Nash is Canadian.

I believe he could get deported from the States if he decides to become a Cincinnati Bengal since I don't believe he has ever taken up becoming an American citizen. However he would be going back to Canada since he is a Canadian citizen. Now if he never took up citizenship in either country then yes he could been deported back to South Africa.

He would be both a citizen by birth with South Africa and at some point growing up he took up Canadian citizenship and Canada allows for dual citizenship.

Ewing is the better example, he was born in Jamaica and moved to the US when he was 13. Duncan was born in USVI, USVI citizens have US citizenship.

Speaking of Jamaicans, I remember when Ben Johnson won the Gold Medal in 88, The Headlines were "Canadian Sprinter Wins Gold" after he tested positive the writers started calling him "Jamaican born Sprinter...."

If an illegal alien Mexican couple was living in say Texas, and had a child on US soil....is that baby then a US citizen ? I think legally the answer is yes.

I knew there had to be a catch to a white guy being good at hoops ... he's African-American.

Probably runs a 2 hour marathon too.

Yes, if you are born in the US or US territory (overseas bases, USVI, Guam, etc.) you are a US citizen regardless of your parents citizenship.

I suppose he's still a S African citizen by birth if he was born there.

And a Canadian citizen having grown up here, if he acquired citizenship.

That would make him a dual citizen of 2 countries, America not included.

Both parents were alleged to be British, so he might have some rights
re British citizenship also, or if he was interested in obtaining such.
And re USA citizenship due to years living in that cunttry. As far as i
know he is not interested in either of these.

Well, I guess I'm a little sore because my Canadian friend keeps bragging how a "Canadian" is the best player in the NBA. I keep telling him he was born in South Africa to English parents but he won't hear of it.
Well, at the end of the day he's still Canadian. Let him have his one little thing to be proud of.

So what happens in a case like that ?

If INS wants to send the parents back, but they have a baby, do they get to stay ?
