Why is it about 95% of the time a posters FIRST reaction when he has a possible problem with a book to POST first CALL later

I think I know the answer to this but im curious as to what others think the reasoning behind it is..

It seems we are in a "Post first Ask the book later" frame of mind most of the time. Is it because they think it will get fixed quicker by posting it instead of calling there 800 number?

Please help me to understand it

Dante, one word, fear. These players are sportsbook virigins many of them, and don't realize that little things can come up and that there isn't some conspiracy theory anytime there's a problem. Fear is the first thing, they think their money is gone, panic and post....It's pretty straight-forward, and makes sense.

I personally don't think that is accurate, Dante. I think it seems like that sometimes when a number of complaints come in at once, but I believe a heckuva lot more people call and email first and most of those get settled without anyone knowing - some of those that don't probably go to someone here (or at another forum) 'offline' for help, and some do make it here. I just don't think it's anywhere close to 90%.

For those that do without ANY attempts at calling or email, I think perhaps:

1 - some are scammers or sharps, hoping for forum support to intimidate a book

2 - others don't know any better, think personal contact won't help

3 - some get so pissed so fast they can't help it

perhaps 95% is a bit High but I think its over 60% that do it first. its like a gut reaction.. I am just trying to understand it

I think 95% is high also. Anyway sometmes I don't think it's so out of line Dante for a player to post here. I think sometimes the poster just wants to let others know of the problem and/or maybe get input from others.

In some cases though the agenda starts in. A player may be unhappy with a book for another reason entirely and just wants to extract revenge by trashing a book. It can be on a book cutting a guys wagers, an employment dispute (disgruntled employee), advertising agenda or anything else. That is why it can be tough to tell the difference between a genuine beef and a player who is upset with a book for other reasons. Usually though when it is wide spread across the board displeasure with a book (Yahoops for example) than you know it is trouble. If it is just a couple who pollute every single thread with a personal agenda (Beaner) than that is usually easy to spot too. Anything in the middle can be tough.

I think there’s a general mistrust of the offshore industry by many players in the first place. Couple that with the “Jerry Springer Syndrome” -- whereby everyone thinks that airing their problems in public is the fastest way to get results – and you get folks posting here before pursuing all possible CS options.

Then again, some shops have no CS …

seems to me like a lot of these people who post first are not totally on the up-and-up about their situation. There oftentimes is omething else going on that they don't want to fess up to immediately. They hope the negatiove publicity will make the book cave-in before the dig too deep

Joe, makes a good point, it's hard sometimes when you call CS at these places and you are talking to someone with a middle school diploma. Very disconcerting.

What I find is just as amazing is thatt these same people instead of going with a well established book, will sign up and send money to bookitformeplease.com --- Then they say--what happened?

Well this has happened to me in the last day.

It took me 30 hours, 5 phone calls and 1 e-mail to get a lousy 3 bucks and change posted to my neteller.

While this was not a top tier book neither was it a book I expected a hassle with. The deposit was finally made within minutes of a THREAT to post here. Since there is no need to name names there's no problem with telling this story here.

But it was a needless hassle born of my own greed based on what I perceived as a greater than normal bonus and nice lines. I lost money anyway. STAY WITH TOP TIER BOOKS.
