You can blame gregg for the duffy walk, but it wasnt his fault that soriano doesn't know how to field a fly ball and theriot not using his brain for a double play ball.

Honestly, I think both Gregg and Marmol are trash. Although Im a little salty about the Cubs losing today. First loss of the day....dammit!!

Soriano is the most overrated player in baseball IMO. Been saying it for years. Nothing special defensively and he strikes out a ton. It's either big HR or he leaves guys stranded. I guess he gets his share of doubles but the amount of times he strikes out in key situations coupled with his defense has him rated way higher then he should be by many.

I think a big reason Soriano is overrated is because of how well he does at fantasy baseball since he hits the long ball and has speed. I just don't think his game translates well into winning games sometimes. Same thing with Iverson in the NBA... yeah he puts up 30 points but he shoots a ton of ill-advised shots... yeah he gets a ton of steals but there is no star for how many times he gets constantly beat trying to go for the steal and coming up empty.

No one really knows...

Because Marmol chose to play in the WBC instead of practice with his team

Come on. Don't you guys know?

I'm not saying I agree with it, but what Piniella is doing is choosing to use his more electric arm in the higher leverage situations, (ie) bases loaded in the 7th or 8th, when he needs a strike out. For example today when Marmol came in with 2 on and 1 out in the 7th.
I guess it works better when Gregg enters the 9th with more than a 1 run lead ^<<^

I don't think it will last, but that is what his thinking is, and that's what he is doing right now.

This is just classic over-coaching. I see it with Larussa at times with his pitchers. Just look at Marmol's stuff versus Gregg? End of story. Marmol is electric with his stuff and can change speeds and work both sides of the plate. Gregg is has nothing more than a live fastball and decent slider. You don't think the Cubs position players are not thinking that today when their best pitcher is used up in the seventh inning? As one said earlier, this will change real quick and if not, the Cubs will have to throw a few more away before the obvious decision is made.

Meh...
Half the people in the world say that, half the people in the world say why waste the best arm in your bullpen on a 3 run lead in the 9th, when the most crucial point in the game can often be earlier.
