I`m Also A Lifetime Foots Goofy But

started playing MLB seriously 2 yrs ago. The difference in the $$ I`ve won vs Foots & Hoops is about 2 to 1. I`d still rather watch foots hands down, but these guys are right MLB is much easier to cap. See my post under Woodies thread. You have to get a routine going & study stats BB IS a #`s game.

when i last hosted a radio show i used to bash baseball daily, in favor of football and hoops...i have been watching this closely this season, and it is the most frustrating sport to watch and to bet. Nom matter how much reseach you do, there are dozens of variables, and many that change DURING the game.

Watch these players, they lounge around, during the game with no sense or urgency, and why should they? There is NO CLOCK, they are going to play again tommorrow, and 100 times more after that, so why care if you strike out or lose the game. The bullpens look like HS kids goofing off in study hall.

baseball players seem to be very pampered and not interested much in winning every game , at least until the play -offs. perhaps if they took these games seriously NOW they wouldnt be OUT of the playoffs in sept.

there is no time limit on these games adding to the "no urgency " effect.

There are so many things you have to predict in these games, beyond the players attitudes and the Hitters. There are so many guys going on and off the DL everyday, ( because who wants to really play all 162 games?) there is the weather, the travel, the field dimension, the sun , the sightlines, who knows whats on the pitchers mind that day, and he doesnt even pitch the whole game, so there are three other guys who are going to pitch and leftys and rightys , and you got to predict whats going on thier heads. The unpires seem to be umpire different in different stadiums.

all in all, about 90% of the games are REALLY a 50-50 prop to pick a winner, and the other 10% are priced so high, its not worth betting. Why take a run line on a home fav, when they may not EVEN bat in the 9th if they are up by 1?

so thank god for the NBA playoffs and I cant wait for football.

Damn, for a minute there I couldve swore you were talking about the NBA.

well the better teams dont win , lets look at tuesdays scores....

well, after looking at all the "TEAM A's" that are supposed to be better than "team B's, the dogs are winning more bets than the favorites, and these are straight up wins. so that theory cant be true. all games should be -110 with a run line. why is so hard to make a big favorite -2 or -3? then it may work.

"
I feel the same way as the original poster when it comes to betting on basketball or even football.

I love baseball. If Team A is better than Team B, most likely Team A is going to win.

Football is great to watch and betting is fun. I dont make any money during football season (mostly just push) but it is still fun to bet on.

Basketball is a sport created by the books. I am convinced.

If you want to bet on baseball but are struggling, just back someone on this forum. A guy like Tomorrow's Newspaper is a smart choice.

You cant look at the first 2-3 weeks and say the better teams dont always win. Check back in at the end of the season and the top teams will be 90-60 or better.

it does not appear anyone is winning

i look at the records of so called BASEBALL experts, and BOTh their "units" and winning % are all 40-60% , that does not bode well for those who say its the easiest sport to handicap, several not one or 2 should be at least 70% , and they just aren't maybe not yet, but so far -even for the experts- it seems very difficult to predict on paper BEFORE the game. every game seems to have something that NO ONE could have predicted ahead of time. and the streaks are very hard to predict, teams tend to get bored after winning 3-4 games.

I will admit that was easier about 7-10 years ago, certainly 15 years, but the game seems to have changed and there are just too many relief pitchers, etc, and too many intangibles during a game.

Your inexperience is glaring.

As Williemcgee said.....your somewhat naive.

Baseball is driven by stats, thats for sure. Mostly newspaper stats are meaningless as far as 'capping is concerned. Once you figure out which are necessary and which are fodder, you can become quite proficient at predicting the outcome of baseball games. There are many approaches that "work", but in baseball, unlike other sports, you don't have to win the majority of the games to be profitable.

Baseball is a lucrative proposition and there are around 90 games a week, verses a few NFL games each week, making for plentiful opportunities.

I'm not going to go into the details here, but I make a very comfortable living capping sports. I don't cap the NBA, although I know others who do well at it. Baseball is my most lucrative sport, only slightly behind CBB. There are simply not enough games in the NFL to come close to producing the income from baseball.

Baseball is a very beatable sport. While I can appreciate your observation of baseballs diverse and seemingly scattered parameters, I can only suggest you avail yourself of pertinent information, process it correctly, and watch with wide-eyed astonishment as the money starts rolling in.
