It took me 2 years also. I didnt register because its a PUBLIC forum and I would rather stay away from public places. I dont like people.

I think there are morelurkers than posters for a couple reasons:

1. It takes time to read everything on these boards and then to respond takes even longer. I think most people are at work while reading these and it takes up too much time sometimes to read and respond to too many topics. I for one use this site for information only, not as a social club.

2. Another big reason is that a lot of time someone reponds who doesn´t have many posts, the regulars in here chastise their opinions, call them names don´t take them seriously and tell them to come back when they have 5000 posts. I´ve been on this site almost daily for the last 5 years and I know that there really are some idiot posters. But some of these guys with 1000´s of posts need to get a life and stop bashing others for having a life and not posting on here 24/7.

Just my 2 cents-----L

swimmin' in gin,

Touching on your second paragraph. Alot of the more knowledgable posters need to realize that they did not always know so much. All questions are good questions. And when a question is asked, no matter how simple a question it may appear to one, it may be a very difficult understanding for another.

Good question.........I've been her a while now with few posts, but a lot of topics just don't hold merit with me. I typically respond to a question that interests me, or I'll post when I have a warm fuzzy on a good play. And I will not get caught up in all the bashing between some posters.

I think a lot of people are here for information (that is, after all, supposed to be the whole raison d'etre of The Rx in the first place.) Look at me -- I lurked for well over a year before I ever signed up, and until the RR and Politics fora were opened, I hardly ever posted, yet now am at nearly 4,000 posts in less than two and a half years. If the RR and Politics fora were closed I'd probably go back to my previous seldom-seen posting, which would in a sense qualify me as a lurker, a semi-lurker if you will.

An example of a semi-lurker (and one of my favourite Rx denizens) is Occam's Razor. This is a guy who hardly ever posts, except to put up his picks, and usually if it isn't pick-related he is offering either insight or a kind word to a fellow capper or someone in the Handicapping Zone forum. Not to be trite, but this is a guy who seems to really just have a lot of class, and while he is not a "volume poster" it is people like him that really contribute the most to the Rx at the end of the day.

I thought I had a low posting %, i.e. time vs #of posts, you make me look like a piker. That`s OK tho, if you`re like me some days it`s just too tedious to get involved. And mostly I`m just interested in FB. Since I banned myself from the Poitical Forum my quality of life has improved. Some of these guys post 20 or more times a day? Don`t they eat, work, fish, read etc.? There IS a life outside of the RX. Luck to you!

I myself signed up to post back in July 2000. Had lurked for several months before. In my opinion it was easier to be either a lurker or a new poster when the RX was in its early days. Here's my observation from that time period: Back then the offshore book/casino forum had way more people who were in management, ETC at the various books posting or contributing on a very frequent/consistent basis. They would join into a thread quite often (it was very cool and I miss that). At that time there seemed to be way more professionals, sharps, ETC sharing info on their dealings with the various books: fast or slow payouts, customer service, lines moving on money or air ( my all time favorite poster who I have alot of respect for the Krackman, was always sharing very valuable info/insight). Also the forum rarely if ever had any off topic posts. All posts were sportsbook related 98% of the time. So you could basically just quickly lurk on a daily basis and be very well informed on most everything that was going on or going down. Questions would be answered before you even thought of asking them. Back then when a lurker decided to become a poster it was much easier. A new poster could ask a question or mention something they experienced (good or bad) without being accused of being a shill or having an agenda. Answers to questions posted came more quickly and were much more informative and personable than it is today. There was seldom ever any replies of 'why don't you just call them or shoot them an an e-mail'. Back then you didn't need to. Thats what the forum was for. I'm starting to ramble on, so I will wrap this up. I think most lurkers probaly find it easier to just do a topic search at the present day RX when they have a question. And they follow it up with contacting the book directly. I still love and enjoy this site very much. I just wish that alot of the newbies and lurkers could have have experienced what this site was like from 1999 to early-mid 2001.

Was also a long time lurker. Very few forums have the ability to hold my attention. Also, seems like most of them get taken over with posters bashing the hell out of each other instead of just posting useful information or constructive criticism.

I think that most lurkers probably dislike Dante and would prefer to avoid any and all interaction with him.

The last two newbies claimed that Dante was emailing revealing photos of himself with the memo, "how bout you guys look in my secret forum

"

Can't say I blame the lurkers.

Lurking here is entertaining mainly because threads get replies much quicker than most forums.
