Why do touts release plays an hour before kickoff?

Got into a twitter war last night with some lame tout who was pissed off at the refs in the niner game? I asked him why he waited to release/play the game so late when the spread was niners +10 all week? He locked it in at 9.5. Shouldn't these touts be releasing plays at good #'s midweek not an hour before kickoff? If you follow any of these guys you see it every week. I just don't get it. I would never pay any of these guys for picks. Way to many scammers out there who are throwing darts. Do your own research and spend some time on the RX.

Maybe...because a lot of things can happen between Tuesday-Sunday...? Things like your star QB getting into a life threatening car crash or your star running back knocking his wife out cold. :p

sure a lot of things can change but I think the touts want you to think they have the answer to winning so waiting till the last minute to get the "latest info" to "guarantee" a GOY winner is just playing the tout role.

In those instances "a client" might benefit if playing the other side. Plus, these so called "sports investors" could recommend buying out of it and pay the juice if needed. Sharp bettors tend to play the early numbers because of value. Not sure why these so called expert touts don't do the same thing and forward the info on to a paying client.

Thats just one example where the spread came into play; one game. Most of the time the spread will not be in play like that and you won't lose by a half a point and that's why over time it doesnt make sense to get into the habit of buying points. Also, most 'touts' as you say; perhaps even the one you are talking about gets their hoops plays out the night before to get great lines.

I teased San Fran because I didn't feel that great about 10. But +23 was money in the bank as one leg of a teaser

the reason touts release plays at the last minute is to prevent their clients from sharing the picks w others for free. they want to make it difficult for clients to both get their own bets down and also share w friends, so they give them as little time as possible to act on the picks. they would release their picks only 5 minutes prior to game if they could, but that would likely piss off their paying clients, so they give them an hour, but w internet, it is getting hard for them to control sharing picks with an hour notice. so maybe they will start shrinking the window even further.

because they can. They have a meeting of the all the touts and the unanimous picks are distributed to those who want to believe in their prognostication abilities.
