A majority of the good QB's in college football that go to the NFL wind up amounting to nothing in the NFL and I have always wondered why. The stud QB's in the NFL are for the most part guys that went to smaller colleges and weren't known at all.

Matt Leinert was a Heisman winner and stud QB at USC and came to the NFL and has sucked.

Alex Smith was a stud QB in college and was drafted high but has been nothing in the NFL.

Colt Brennan was an amazing QB at Hawaii but hasn't been allowed to really play in the NFL.

John David Booty was a good QB at USC and hasn't even been heard of in the NFL.

Rex Grossman was a stud QB at Florida and sucks in the NFL.

These are just a few of the examples. Why don't the good college QB's translate over to the NFL?

Many college qbs have a system built around their skills. Also, they are too short, weak-armed for the next level. Also something to said for the smaller school player who is a late-bloomer, and works on his game.

the system that they are in. TTech QBs run gimmicky stuff. They arent reliant on reading defenses, etc. Just pitch and catch. They dont develop the skills in college so they suck at the NFL.

EVERYTHING the Gentleman before me said PLUS something I was once told at a football coaching clinic I once attended : "In college a defense has ONE, TWO, MAYBE THREE PRO'S on it....IN the NFL, it has 11!!!" IT's THAT SIMPLE IN MOST CASES as MOST GUYS DON'T EITHER HAVE THE TALENT, NOR PUT IN THE NECESSARY HARD WORK TO MAKE THE ADJUSTMENT!!! GL:laugh:

The college level has however many hundred teams therefore the talent level is watered down. i.e. weaker defenses than what you would face on a Sunday.

College level is [college level]; the pro's are the pro's.

Max Magee (late of the Green Bay Packers) once said, "when it is third down and ten to go, you can have the milk drinkers, I'll take the whiskey drinkers every time".
