I have wondered this for over 2 yrs. Why do they post that and in some cases multiple times but I would wager that if you look back at the posters that say "goodbye" they post again sometimes as early as the NEXT day.

Do they post "goodbye" threads becuase they really want to say goodbye and see who cares if they leave or not? That is the only reason I can think of.

I think it's similar (but on a much smaller scale) to people who "attempt" to commit suicide. I mean, what the heck is that!? It's not that hard to do. These people are just hungry for attention and they manage to find the most pathetic ways to get it. It's quite sad really.

JUST LIKE BEANTOWN, HE IS WORRIED THAT PEOPLE WONT MISS HIM, AND HE IS RIGHT...

HE POSTS HE IS LEAVING, SEES THAT EVERYONE SAYS ADIOS, NO ONE REALLY CARES, SO THEN HE CANT GO.....

THEY WANT TO BE BEGGED TO STAY, SO THAT THEY THINK THEY ARE GOD...BUT IT REALLY BACKFIRES WHEN THEY FIND OUT , NO ONE REALLY CARES...

BUT I THINK THEY SHOULD STILL LEAVE...

You are right for the most part, but in the case of Don Marco, he just wanted to say goodbye and say thanks - I like those kind, the others remind me of high schoolers trying to get one last shot in.

Dante, I would want to know if you where leaving. Same for other long time posters.

If one is really leaving or only dropping by every couple months, is nice to let people know. IMO

lakerfan, thanks

I think Jazz has a point

Some of these posts are legit like in Don Marco's case I am glad he announced it so we all knew but some take it to far and announce over and over again

I guess there is 2 kinds of "goodbye" posts

No one cares who posts or who leaves. The strong survive here and the weak quit!!

Must have something to do with their mommies not paying enough attention to them while growing up.

If it's a cry for help like threatening to commit suicide, I'll send Beantown a bullet. I mean he is a bit short with the theft of his lawn mower.

pipe and thrillseeker, right on the money. they never actually leave!! I hate to see threads altered / deleted, but everytime I see a "I'm leaving" thread it makes me want to puke. I would;nt mind seeing those get wiped out. they are rarely if ever sincere.

Parsons and Pipe, LMAO!!

the only reason someone would say they are leaving is to get people to beg them to stay. People like Don Marco are different they are letting people know not to worry, just explaining why they wont be around.

That being said, guys I'm leaving. I'm going to bed soon, lol. How many people dont really leave but just change their name? I've always wondered.

Right guys, most the people who tell you they are leaving want you to beg them to stay or they are trying to force your hand on something. There are different categories though, like Jazz said Don Marco was a different story. If a guy leaves because of business, getting married, time issues etc... that I can understand. The one's who are leaving because something isn't exactly the way they want it are the one's who bore me. The longer a poster hangs around the more valuable he figures he becomes and the more demanding some of them become. Wish I had a quarter for every "if you don't ban XXXX poster I am out of here" ultimatum. Or "if you don't let me do this I will not post my valuable picks here". Or even in some cases "post about how right I am or I will sue you guys" stuff. Then if it isn't done you get the tearful speech of how much you really love the place but no way can you stay and watch this stuff continue. Usually they e-mail others and try to get a bunch to feel sorry for them and also quit the site in order for you to beg them back......

LOL, some of these people should realize that quality is better than quantity and repeating thereselves 20 times is really annoying

Sometimes people who post less are a lot better than post whores like some guy who has the initials JJ.
