Using that logic, how come houses have locks on their doors?I don't find it racist, just stupid/inefficient. The wall will be dug under, destroyed in spots and/or crawled over. People are willing to walk across the desert and ride in trunks and train cars, a wall will be just a speed bump on the journey. The way to stop them are: severe punishment for businesses hiring them and finding a way to limiting the wires of trillions of dollars going south.
We've tried to stop drugs coming here for decades. How's that worked?
On a small square footage, walls, fences and locks are efficient. If the White House was 30,000 acres of real estate, there would be regular intruders. How many secret service agent is at the White House per ever lineal foot of fence. That's what makes the wall effective. If not, people would climb the wall and there'd be no enforcement. Do we have the ability for the same man power on the border? Of course not.
Of course we have the ability to do that on the border. Do you know how many unemployed people we have who could have a job at a post along the border wall? The country doesn't have the courage to build a wall because corporate America loves the cheap labor.

Why do I need a key to start my truck?
I don't think I addressed this one fully.
So let's say a coyote can send a couple smugglers to create a hole, tunnel or path around the fence. He charges $5000/ head for him to smuggle you into the ol' USA. He finds he can get 200 people through his opening before its shut down, on average. Each hole is worth $1 mil. His risk is almost 0 because he stays on that side of the wall.
If someone could to your house with almost 0 risk and steal a million dollars worth of your shit, your locks are worth almost 0 and people would do that every day.
And if you place a sensor on the wall?
Are you serious?
who cares? If there's nearly 0 risk and a huge reward, there is no deterrent.
I make $4/day in Mexico. My family is starving. In America, I can make $100 a day and send back $50, feeding all of my family and the elderly in my family. If I get caught, I get put in a van and sent back. Who cares about a lock or a sensor or a fence or a wall?
Yes, I'm dead serious. You bring up the second issue where we are failing.
If caught, automatic 5 years in jail. Second time, 10 years. And do not deviate. Think that's a risk for a guy trying to make money for his family?
Okay, great. And we're gonna pay $30k/year each to jail people who aren't even our citizens? Is that the "conservative economic" approach?

I think Trump's wall is an inefficient idea. I don't care though. I'm assuming he will use that as a bargaining point to create some kind of tougher border security.
Perhaps triple border security would be a better idea.
+1.
Makes no sense altogether... Wall would cost millions if not billions just to protect anyways. There must be a better way to control the stuff... But just for you to know, smugglers always find new ways... so if you build a wall they will still be successful coyotes and drug smugglers.
The war on drugs is a sham.
