well at least its talking about the iphone.

maybe samsung should give it a try and talk about their phone one day

Really? Literally the one feature they showcase is the fact you can turn yourself into an animal emoji. That's good advertising?

its not my favorite but i hope you are understanding what im saying.

i generally cant stand people or companies that constantly use the competition as the number 1 reason to use them.

political commercials are the worst.

im not saying talking about the competition is totally off limits.

but samsung goes over board.

after greenbacks youtube video.
the next suggested video was a motorola commercial advertising its latest phone.

it was a great spot.

showed that little add on device you can hook up to the back where you can project your videos from your phone unto a wall and watch your videos in 4k resolution on your wall.

you see. they gave me a reason to want that phone.

they did not mention anything about apple or samsung.

just gave everyone who watched the commercial a real good reason to buy their phone other then the other guy sucks.

samsung is going at it all wrong.

the last thing you tell cult followers is that their product sucks.

that just makes them dig in deeper into the cult.

cults are taught that there will be opposition against you and they are trained to ignore it.

they are taught that this kind of advertisement is a form of jealousy and increases apples superiority complex even higher.

they are actually playing right into apples hands with those kinds of ads.

It's a oligopoly situation, where the most effective way to communicate your product's value proposition is juxtaposed with your competition's shortcomings.

In the commercials above, Samsung gives you at least a half dozen reasons to choose their product over the competition; specific features that are competitive advantages. Apple shows you that you can animate your self into an animal emoji.

And you say that the Apple commercial effectively shows features of its product, and the Samsung commercial does not.

Weird viewpoint.

Apple is specifically choosing NOT to showcase their features, instead trying to make a catchy commercial with the sole intent to further ingrain their branding into your brain. The Apple commercial has nothing to do with showing off their product.

You have it backwards.

apple has had many of opportunities to dig at samsung in the past but have always taken the high road.

yea the emoji thing is not one of their greatest hits but like you say the main thing they are after is increasing the brand.

and they are giving the appearance of strength .

the one who constantly talks down to the competition is always the one that comes off as desperate and jealous.

the one that minds its own business and basically ignores the competition is always the one that comes off as the one of strength and power and the one in control of the situation

I would argue that the goal of that commercial is not to try to convert loyal Apple users into Samsung users, but rather to reinforce brand loyalty among existing Samsung users and maybe win some fringe customers.

In other words, I'm suggesting you aren't the target audience of that commercial, so they probably don't really care if you are feeling it or not.

thats the way you advertise a phone.

It's one strategy, especially effective for a competitor that doesn't already have a massive amount of market share.

Motorola's goal when they put out an ad is far different than Apple or Samsung's goal.

They are trying to get fringe customers (who might consider converting) interested, to take notice, to maybe look at their phone when they go phone shopping. They probably understand they are not going to convert a hardcore Apple/Android user in a 15 second spot.

Apple and Samsung's ads are focused more on reinforcing brand loyalty.

You can't compare a Motorola commercial to a Samsung commercial; they have completely different objectives and thus completely different styles of advertising.

yeah, that's a point, and probably correct. I don't want them to advertise towards me, I know what I like, I just want their ads to be less ANNOYING. Literally I have to change the channel when the animoje one comes on.

There is nothing worse than this in the history of television.

Any advertisement with a Big Boi song in the background is okay with me

I don't know man, isn't one of the commercials showing the guy switch over from iPhone to Samsung after years of an iPhone. I actually agree with Chop here

You agree with Chop that the animoje commercial does a better job of highlighting their product features than the Samsung commercial (which actually shows several differentiating features)?

OK

I'm a Mac Guy. Got IMac, a Mac air, and used to have an Iphone. But I'm also a Samsung guy, my fridge TV washer dryer, all Samsung. I have a Galaxy 8 plus now for a phone and I really like it.

Two Samsung Tv's. Samsung family hub fridge with the computer on it. Samsung washer and dryer. Samsung galaxy s8.

My wife has an iPhone and an iPad. The iPhone is absolute Junk. I use the iPad sometimes to watch Netflix with headphones if she's sleeping.
