Sick always says, 'Once a poster, always a poster.'

However, lots of posters suddenly disappear. SteveH, Joe, Conan to name a few. What happens to these people? Why do they just stop posting?

Yep. Ever go to a casino and run out of money? That is hell. Really, that would be my hell. To spend eternity in a casino with no money.

Same thing with the message boards. Who wants to read about point-spreads and moneylines when you don't have any money to wager on them?

I doubt it, you can always find money to gamble with in due time. I think you just have to love the "game" of this as much as the games themselves. Gambling and the business of gambling are different worlds. I happen to love the business almost as much as the action of gambling so I am definitely not going anywhere, but proabably a lot of people find themselves here because they are truly looking for advice on gambling or how to do it. If that is all you want better stick to the sports forums because this room turns those people off quickly.

I will share a humbling loser story. I was in Chicago for training, and had some per diem money only, chump change. No ability to have any more. I drive from Chicago in my rental car to find this riverboat casino. Finally find it, just missed, it pulled out. So I pick my nose for 3 hours waiting for this barge to drift back. My turn, I stroll on, thinking I know how to gamble way better than thses newbies. Yikes, all of the craps tables are 10 mininum, so I have to watch my percentage wagered to bankroll. Everybody but me is on the pass, Guy comes out with a 10. I lay full against. Boom two 5's, hard ten. Half my bankroll is gone. So I just put 20 out, I will show these guys. Another loser number, a 4. So I take my remaining bankroll and lay it. Boom, hard 4. Poof, in 4 rolls I am broke, and I have 2 hours and 55 minutes to hang out on the barge until it pulls back in. Probably 10 feet from dock. I will never forget that as long as I live.

People die, get incarcerated, or institutionalized. Or they are tapped. Just a different kind of fix here...Best Wsihes...OF

Sometimes, simple fatigue of the site can drive posters to leave. Futhermore, if the forums become cluttered with too much non-sense and egomania, and one were to find the site providing little value, there would be no reason to stay and post.

I know of at least one poster who (I believe) left simply because of all the infighting, bickering, petty arguments, ego drives and the general lack of credibility of the word of RX management.

His name rhymes with Razz.

i know of one guy also that left because He welched for over 50,000 dollars, and he now has to hide from here. He used to have a big position here and a ton of posts. I don't want to say who it is because I feel it's not fair for that person, but however... I will say this clue, and ONLY one clue...

His name rhymes with

Matrick McJirish..

I was one of the orignial posters here and post about 5 times a year now.

Why? I think its really fun to get involved for everyone in the beginning, but after awhile, if you have any brains in your head, you realize that the rewards to posting anything of value...or very small if not non-existent.

The vast majority of smart, intelligent, and contributing posters get overwhelmingly drowned out by the egotistical geeks with no life that post non-stop and in general, simply take over a board. Conan was one, Joe was another.

I came to the board to share knowledge about "how to win betting on sports" with other like minded individuals...however, the important and necessary tools to become a "prominent" member of these boards now is to be ....PERSISTENT, OBNOXIOUS, LOUD, OVERWHELMING, IN YOUR FACE, NEVER ADMIT YOUR WRONG, KISS THE AS SES of THOSE THAT KISS YOURS, this is something I refuse to be a part of ....

Why post valuable information when the majority of people want to "LOCKS OF THE YEAR"....backed up by inflated or just plain fake "win/loss records"....

Ask the Shrink about the IN DEPTH discussions about strategy that used to take place here...they were great..and I learned a ton.

Don't want this to be all negative, these boards are one of the main reasons why I have become a consistent winner in Football, Baskets, and BAseball, as well as the commodity markets.

But I'm aftraid to say that this is no longer capable in the current, "whoever beats their chest the hardest" atmosphere.

The most intelligent posters simply quit posting, because of the prominence of simple minded idiots. Box and ONe continues to survive as does GM, and Winkyduck...Count Zero to a degree, Parlay is missing in action for over 2 years and countless others.

Kosar is the single sharpest bettor I know, but many of you would never know this.

The boards are here for all.

There can be many reasons for ceasing in posting. Different strokes for different folks. There are posters who are aggravating, but I do not buy that as an excuse for not posting. Why can they not be ignored? So easy.

You can ignore them..surely.

But, to characterize this as "easy" is laughable....it becomes a full time JOB, and like I said, the rewards of posting or basically NILL.

Reading however, is entertaining. The success of this forum is clear. But some users, (me), simply have the opinion that it's success has become a barrier to the attainment of good handicapping knowledge and discourse.

Now if you are into drama, or Reno's sick charity, or gossip, its a posters heaven.

To each his own...this is just why "I" don't post, and I'm sure no one misses me. So no big deal.

The world has problems

We can all try to make it a better place

Same with an internet forum

You are right about Easy. Most cannot ignore. I find it very easy.
