Baltimore was a great baseball town...trust me , the fans this team had were as good as any, the new park and all it offered, and it being the original of the modern day parks was a big reason Camden was selling out 45k a night the first 4-5 years....The team wasnt any good really....Ever since Edward bennet Williams sold the team the owners have been awful...Seargent Shriver and then Peter Angelos are the two main reasons Baltimore no longer is a major league baseball town....
Its a disgrace...Angelos is hated by most baseball agents, for a long while the Orioles couldn't even get a top notch free agent to come play in their beautiful ball park in front of sold out stadiums.....why, because of the teams ownership was clueless....Finally, they have put the teams best interest in the hands of baseball people....

yes. it used to be full, its not now it wont be with a new team in town this was stupid end of story. every city has great fans and park benchs without boogers and gum stuck underneath who gives a crap.

He gutted the organization by spending on poor overpriced free agents...he made one bad choice after another bringing in over the hill players he ended up paying for long after they were gone....Of course he spent money RPM, the O's were doing so well at the gate, why wouldnt he? He was petty and couldnt take any criticism , he even ran Jon Miller out of town for being critical of the teams moves...'97 was the yr, the O's were a juggernaut, going wire to wire breaking the MLB HR Record...But, they collapsed late and somehow lost to a mediocre Indians team that had no pitching...Armando Benitez allowing two game winning home runs, one that turned the ALCS around...UGH..I didnt need to remember this tonight! Benitez was notorious for hanging a slider (which in turn speeds up the hitters bat) Tony Fernandez of all people sent Cleveland to the WS with a homer off Armando!

5. Attendance has been atrocious

Yes correct...I said 95 96...I meant 96 97 ....I could list several Angelos blunders, but I will list one really good one that sums him up...
Raffy was in the last year of his contract, wanted to stay in Baltimore.....Angelos haggled with him all season offering him much less than market value, at the end of the year Palmeiro finally decided to take the Texas offer ,which was much was lower than Angelos' final offer....Palmeiro went on to have five more great years before returning...The O's love to bring back or sign big name players long after their prime , its another trade mark of the ownership...Albert Belle being the costliest move, paying Belle's enormous salary 3.5 years after Belle retired.
