I have run Track workouts with Carl Lewis, Renaldo Nehemiah, Mary Decker, Denis Mitchell, Carl Everett, Joseph Kipseng, Paul Ehring, Sebastian Coe, Steve Ovett, and countless others.

I have run road workouts with Bill Rodgers, Frank Shorter, Rod Dixon, Alberto Salazar, and Said Aouita. I could go on and on, but most of you guys would not recognize the names although much of the world would.

I ran cross country in high school. A lot of those names were popular to us guys who were runners. Any more that you care to name?

When I was visiting a friend of mine in Denver in the early 80's he said that Frank Shorter's name was in the phone book (he lived in Boulder back then). He was such a regular guy. So I suggested we call him up, half joking. So my friend did. He thanked us for calling him.

The 2 hotbeds for distance runners in this country are Denver, Colorado (where they train) and Gainesville, Florida (where they train in Winter)

When I was at High school cross country nationals (San Diego) we got to spend time and run workouts with Mary Decker and Marty Liquori. That was pretty cool. I had 2 sisters who also ran competatively and we were able to meet Grete Waitz and Joan Benoit. I competed from the ages of 11-22 and still hold some national age records as do my sisters.

here are my personal best times:
800 1:50
1500 3:48
mile 4:02
2 mile 8:48
3000 steeplechase 8:51
5000 meters 13:57
10,000 meters 29:17
10 mile 49:55
1/2 marathon 1:02:57

I never had the will or desire to run marathons, but a couple of buddies that I could compete with ran around 2:12

Pretty impressive results.

I didn't run marathons either but my high school coach ran one in 2:16.

I recognize all those names. Speaking of Joseph Kipsang, did you ever meet Kip Keino? He was another famous Kenyan.

Sure did. He and his brother were coached by my college coach at Maryland (coach Torpey).

Ran against Meb Kefleghzi (however the fuck you spell it), Todd Williams, and Bill Rodgers. Played baseball against Howie Kendrick.

A good buddy of mine played against Kwame Brown in HS. Our HS basketball team sucked and he had to play center because he was the tallest on the team (only 6'3 or 6'4). Well that day Kwame dropped something like 44 points and 25 rebounds on the kid. Glad to see Kwame sucking balls now. Asshole.
