I have to be in the right mood to watch Letterman anymore-the guy spends entirely too much time laughing at himself. Leno is funny, but only because he has a multi million $$$ one liner writing staff.

ESPN time here....

I wonder how much Conan gets paid. You can pick up on his jokes that he isn't very focused on how much he makes (I.E. His Ford Taurus). Maybe it's all a facade but he and Chris Ferguson seem to be more humble than the guys above them.

Is there anything more useless than watching 2 people talk to each other just because they are stars? A waste of a good T.V. if that's what you use your T.V. for.

Big Letterman fan here, watch Davey over Jay about 85% of the times depending on the guests. Most of Letterman's income comes from his production company "Worldwide Pants". Besides the Letterman show itself, WWP made a killing with the hit series "Everybody loves Raymond".. Now also producing the late night show with Craig Ferguson which I personally don't care for. I think he has a few other late nite comedy series in the works but he will never get a job driving Miss Oprah if you get my drift. On ther other hand he don't miss many meals either.

Bottom line - the last laugh is on Dave who is making mega millions telling dumb jokes to Paul Schafer. Great gig if you can get it.

Dave is a funny bastard at times but will never reach the loftly hights set by Johnny Carson (how has). Jay Leno is like Jerry Lewis without ever having a Dean Martin, basically a dipshit with money...

It really is amazing , the shows are avg at best but have this cult like following , like most things in America that pop culture embraces.

Letterman's show is really not that funny, where The Johnny Carson show was a real show every night with real bits, there is no comparison.

Tickets to go see Letterman are still free for his fans. Hard to get - but free none the less.

Ad revenues etc from his show obviously warrant the big bucks.

Wil,

I'd appreciate it if you could keep the profanity out of the sports forums and in my neck of the woods in the RR. I know quality posters such as J-Man are offended by the "s" word.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

Thanks

If you in the top handful in the world at what you do you deserve what the market will pay. Pro sports is on thin ice paying all the marginal players the big money.

neither are overpaid, they are paid what the market thinks there worth. It isn't like the people/companies paying there salaries are living paycheck to paycheck.
