When Canseco was putting up his best years (late 80's early 90's) the game had not seen the ridiculous individual stas that were about to change the way we looked at stats ...

When Canseco went for 40-40 something never done before, 40+ homers was still a tremedous season...this of course was before we saw several 50-60-70 plus artifical seasons....I'm sure if Canseco would have still been in his prime say in 1998 he would have hit 55-60 homers.

No, I wouldn't, maybe if he did all this in the 70's...he didn't have much of a career after age 34...
I would compare Canseco to a guy like Jim Rice as far as career ending early, but was a great player at the very top in his prime.

Yeah, guys like him looked like sure fire HOF's in their late 20's, reminds me of my fav player growing up Juan Gone... Sad the way both of these careers are ending.

Juan was amazing...pretty obvious though he was a huge juicer...he was incredible though, very similar RBI guy as Manny Ramirez but just couldn't stay healthy !

By age 31 he had already reached 400 homers...the past 5 seasons he's hit 37 total ! He is STILL only age 36.

Yeah he hit more line drives than anyone I've ever seen, absolute rockets... Hell he had 100 rbi's by the all-star break one year!!!! Really depresses me to see what has happened to him... Albert (Joey) Belle is another guy who's career took a similar path to Juan and Canseco.

What do you guys think of David Justice and Mark Grace???

no chance with either IMO.

I like my HOFers to be clearly HOF players , neither one is even close.

Who's in?
Who's not, but will eventually?
Who's never going in?

Eligible in 2007:

Harold Baines, Derek Bell, Dante Bichette, Bobby Bonilla, Jeff Brantley, Jay Buhner, Ken Caminiti, Jose Canseco, Eric Davis, Tony Fernandez, Tony Gwynn, Darryl Hamilton, Pete Harnisch, Charlie Hayes, Glenallen Hill, Ken Hill, Stan Javier, Wally Joyner, Ramon Martinez, Mark McGwire, Paul O’Neill, Gregg Olson, Cal Ripken Jr., Bret Saberhagen, Jeff Shaw, Kevin Tapani, Devon White, Bobby Witt

Also, what's your opinion on..... 2008, 9, and 10??

2008:
Shawon Dunston, Travis Fryman, David Justice, Mike Morgan, Tim Raines, Randy Velarde
2009:
Mark Grace, Rickey Henderson, Dean Palmer, Dan Plesac, Matt Williams
2010:
Andres Galarraga, Edgar Martinez, Robin Ventura

of this list

Gwynn and Ripken are a DEAD MORTAL LOCK for 2007 - NOT EVEN close

of the rest of the 2007 first-timers would NOT shock me if NONE of them got the 4% needed to stay on the ballot - but the ones i could see getting at least 4% are: Harold Baines, Eric Davis, Mark McGwire (maybe - would NOT shock me if he does NOT get 4% and if he doesn't - hard to believe - he will NEVER make the HOF because there is a 0% chance the Veternan's Committee puts him in

2008: MAYBE McGwire gets in - although I would like to see Bert Blyleven get in and he might here. the only one who will get 4% for sure is Tim Raines. MAYBE Justice gets 4% but he will NEVER get in so irrelevant

2009: Rickey is a LOCK. Grace MIGHT get 4% but he will NEVER make the HOF

2010: Doubt anyone of them make it

for me - 2008-2010 is the chance for the Hall to "right some wrongs" and induct people that should already be in - Blyleven, Jim Rice, Ron Santo and I am sure I am leaving out a few names
