I live in the DC area and everyone here goes to Dewey or Rehobeth (they're like a mile apart). I spent a 4th of July in Dewey. Great time!

I was thinking you said North Dakota. I haven't been to Delaware either. Not sure why I'm commenting other than to ask why?

Sounds pretty good.
Hopefully a bit classier than the NJ boardwalk areas.

The reason I ask is bec I'll be in Philly for bidness...and I was going to go on a rabbit hunt up north to Vermont for a couple of days in search of procuring a bunch of Heady Topper.

But this little spot has a Dogfish Head brewpub that could be interesting.

hahaha yeah that heady topper is great stuff my buddies lives up in VT he always brings us down some. i waned to check out that dogfish pub bc im a big fan of their stuff but it wasnt in the cards. if you end up going to dewey you have to do bottle and cork for their saturday afternoon jam session, its insane! sunday is starboard sundays that place is a shitshow from morning until mid afternoon, they have a make your own bloody mary bar all along the wall with 100's of ingredients. its definitely a great time we rented a house last summer about 50 yards from the starboard, lots of fun. people party all day and night its interesting, you might be raging early in the AM and the house next door is dead quiet bc they raged all night

if you youtube dewey beach delaware there's a lot of good vids that pop up if you wanna get a feel for the atmosphere

Thanks for the input.

So Dewey Beach is where it's at.
I was reading on Rehobath and somewhere it noted that they had a lively gay scene? wtf?

Anyways...how dead will this place be in the middle of May? I'm ok with dead as I don't plan on killing the clubs until 2 aM...but if it's still ice cold up there, sounds like a no go.

Dewey is the more "party" spot. There is a nice strip of bars/clubs. Huskerfan is 100% correct, it is a pain in the ass to get to. It's around 120-130 miles from DC and takes an easy 4 hours. Once you cross the big bridge into Deleware there are a lot of 2 lane highways and traffic lights that get routed into small towns. I never realized there were so many corn fields in Deleware! If there's an accident or construction that 4 hours could be 5 or more (I've had friends say it's taken them 8 hours to get there/or back from there to DC area). Ocean City is a lot of fun too. They have a great strip of bars as well. It's a little farther south though, so coming from Philly it might take a while.

Yeah, Rehoboth is not Dewey. Don't confuse the 2 as you are going to end up surrounded by gays and families if you go to Rehoboth.

Don't know man...I keep checking google maps, and it's a tad over 2 hours everytime. It looks to be straight highway from Philly.
I don't see a straight shot from DC, so I believe your pain.

About getting down there in May...waste of time?

Once the weather warms up that place will be "in season". A lot of young professionals (or degenerates) will rent a house for the season (like a group of 15-20 or more). They all splint the rent/bills and find a way to use the house equally. So, you'll see a huge flux of people start coming in on Thursday thru Sunday. The place is out of control. It's a grown-up's play ground. Ocean City is the same.

I've never made the drive down from Philly, so that may be easier. But coming from DC is painful. I have a friend who has a house in Lewes, so that's usually where I stay. I was last there in mid-September and it was still pretty packed. Hopefully will get out there a few times this summer. You should really enjoy yourself.

Fun place. We have place in nearby Bethany. In terms of traffic if you don't come down Friday at rush hour or Saturday morning in season you should be fine. Thursday or Friday morning usually no issues with traffic even in season. You should have little issue in middle of May. Thursday nights at Rusty Rudder for Love Seed Mama Jump is not to be missed. Long time Fun local band and lots of dancing chicks. They start playing every Thursday on May 14 and always get great crowd unless weather blows. They play at Redskin home games as well.

The other bars already mentioned for the other days are your best bet. may should be decent crowd by then but a lot will depend on weather. Could be 90 or 60 so may want to play by ear. Dogfish definitely worth checking out.
