All that being said I’m pulling for Vegas to continue their charmed season.

For those that missed it Vegas Knights retired their first number last night. Very classy act by Bill Foley.

in the parody-engineered NHL anybody can win, just get in. 8th seeds can win it. Dynasties (Islanders, Canadiens) are long gone. Your most important tool is management and they better not fuck up

with that said, how about the Pens? To win three in a row would be nuts. The East is stronger this year - they have their work cut out. And agree with a poster, Murray better bring the 'A' game come playoff time. Same strategy-- Crosby on the top line with a couple of no names, Malkin with Kessel, sandpaper on the 3rd/4th line....lol

Leafs, Columbus are both dangerous. They are no longer new to the show. Columbus is peaking. Toronto is as deep an offensive team as Tampa Bay. They are the only team in the NHL with three 30-goal scorers. Like Tampa , they play a high risk/reward style. They have a goalie that can not only steal a game, but he can steal a series. Their weakness? defense. they do not have ONE defensive pairing that i have any confidence in, lol. I have no idea why Babcock continues to have Haisny paired with Reilly- i don't fuckin get it.

Tampa- this is the deepest lineup in hockey. Full credit to Steve Yzerman. They have gotten lazy defensively of late.
Boston- everybody's new favorite. Peaking at the right time, unlike Tampa. Tremendous grit and they have one of the best lines in hockey. Unlike the Leafs , this team can comfortably protect a lead.

in the West;
other than Colorado, it's stupid wide open. Nashville the fav. Winnipeg is dangerous and fun to watch... goaltending am not convinced

best first-round matchup

boston or tampa Vs toronto . Stupid playoff format. They should seed 1 to 8; 1 plays 8, 2 plays 7..etc. Boston/Tb/Toronto may end up 1,2,3 in pts out of the east then you have two of them facing each other right off the bat? dumb

biggest disappointment? The Oilers.
management could have had for the next 6 yrs or so ;
1st line center-- McDavid
2nd line center-- Hall

how's that for strength up in the middle? instead they trade Hall ,overpay Draisaitl, and trade a winner away in Eberle

Nashville matches up better with Boston than TB. Nashville would rather avoid a deep offensive team such as TB, or even Toronto for that matter. Leafs beat Nashville 5-2 on the road just recently

I hate to say it, but the East seems to heading towards a Boston-Pittsburgh final IMO. Tampa seems to have gassed a bit and their inefficiencies defensively could be the nail in the coffin. Vasilevskiy appears to be burned out and may have peaked early. I’m in the minority, but I think this side may be one and done, even if they get the one seed.

Columbus is certainly playing well at the moment, but I expect the Pens to flip the switch per usual and be a real handful in the playoffs. I know the Bruins are everyone’s darling right now, but I’d lean Pittsburgh if they meet in the Eastern finals. Not sure about the West at the moment, I could see every opening series going either way.

Should be a hell of a tournament any way you slice it.

Vegas loses in round 1.

I'll pick Lightning over the Jets for the Cup.

Not just a franchise but Chiarelli also killed a potential dynasty in trading away Wheeler, Seguin, and Hamilton for virtually nothing. Image McDavid and Hall playing together! The speed would be unbelievable, a nightmare to play against.

Babcock is a great coach, but he won't get coach of the year. He had the Leafs in the playoffs last year. Gerard Gallant of the Knights will get more consideration. Who saw what Vegas did this year coming?

yup. Ridiculous one-two punch at C. Hall should be nominated for the Hart (i'd give the award to Mackinnon, esp if Col makes the playoffs)

I guess Edmonton got all excited when the Bruins fired him. With a resume that includes; Stanley Cup as a GM with the Bruins and a Harvard degree? they said fuck it, this dude knows what he's doing

Draisaitl for $9 mill......@):mad:....Eberle for Strome......Hall for Larsson.........

they couldn't keep all four, i get it, but boy oh boy.......grade F
