Quantum,
How so? I've never seen Dick Butkus play.

Thanks.
It's been said that Butkus would use clothesline tackles and spearing and such as examples of how the NFL had to change the rules to keep ball carriers from getting injured.

Sounds like he'd have made a great Bronco O-lineman ;)

Any idea who changed the "tripping" and "leg whipping" rules? My dad insists that it was an offensive lineman name Conrad Dobler from the Bills, but I have no idea.

When I think of disruptive, I think of breaking up plays..pass rushers

Taylor * "like a pack of caged wolves"
White * maul you
Smith * fast
Thomas * did he really die?
Lott *hardest hitter

yup. .got a lot of fond memorys of fixn the rabbit ears on the tv to watch simms, joe morris, mark bavaro and lawrence taylor. .im sure other north easterners have similar memorys.

then my dad splurged for the top of the line antenna to put on the roof and got the electric rotator for it. i thought it was the best thing ever. never in my wildest dreams as a kid did i think id have a satellite a little bigger than a dinner plate that had hundreds of channels.

LT . Best ever.

He had one of the greatest lines i had ever heard after breaking Theisman's leg .

They are getting ready to roll Joe off the field on the stretcher when L.T goes up to him and grabs his hand.

Joe " Dont worry, I'll be back "

L.T. " Not tonight you wont "

Ray Lewis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, actually I agree with LT. A different type of disruptive was Deion in his prime. Teams wouldn't even throw to his half of the field many times.

For linemen I'd say LeeRoy Selmon, they would triple team him and then chip with the RB and he'd still get there. Reggie White probably second.

For linebackers probably Butkus, with Mike Curtis second. Ray Lewis a distant third.

Fro corners and safeties I too would list Deion, he wasn't the greatest tackler but he was clearly the best man to man cover corner in the history of the game. When he did pick one it usually went to the house too. :)

Not even close ...

Butkus was the most intimidating player in the history of the NFL ... and didnt need to use Coke like LT to get all jacked up for a game

Fellas, for those of you not familiar with #51 you need to watch clips of him in action .. he makes Taylor look like a little girl

This is not even a close vote ...

I would say Butkus, but Ray Lewis is one guy I wouldn't want to meet in a dark ally after a Superbowl party.:icon_conf

Oldtimers remember Gino Marchetti, Doug Atkins, and Deacon Jones, More current Leroy Selmon, Butkus of course along with Taylor, and DB Mel Blount.
