Hopefully in the next few years, a marketing wiz will revive the idea. But the NFL will have to be a partner this time. It makes sense - football's the most popular sport in America - heck even the XFL averaged over 25,000 people in the stands each game. If its done right, people simply love football and will support it. Why should the NFL execs travel overseas for NFL Europe to scout talent when they could travel to Chicago, LA, San Fran, etc. The NFL could allocate developmental squad players to each team to fill the rosters. I actually heard that Turner Broadcasting had shown some interest in a venture like this. FYI: If UPN hadn't pulled a wrestling "powerplay" on McMahon, the XFL might still be around. NBC was out for year two, but TNN loved it and UPN got greedy. That was too much for Vince to take and he bailed.

I am sorry for using the "R" word - and NOTHING EL

i went to the last ever xfl game to see l.a. beat s.f for the title.

for those who were at the game - it was a lot more fun then watching on tv.

what i won't forget was sitting 1 row behind some guy - and his 3 kids - none older them about 7-8 y/o.

during the game - with the kids sitting next to him - he would yell out to the field - but not caring what his kids heard.

i heard him several times scream out stuff like, "take that you motherf****r (and he said the word)" or "eat shit frisco."

this while next to his kids!

I loved the XFL (and made some decent money on the unders when they made the rule-change midseason to re-start the clock after incomplete passes in an attempt to shorten the games for TV).

Went to all but one game here in Vegas. Had sideline press pass which made it even more fun. In the first-ever game, on the TV broadcast, I could be seen running on the field trying to get a close-up photo of the goofy scramble for the ball that determined who got the first kickoff.

I think it's funny that the NFL now uses the "Skycam" on some broadcasts but they never happen to mention that the idea/technology was stolen from the XFL.

Also enjoy the Arena product, but haven't gotten into betting it. Just like taking my family there for a fun afternoon when not much is going on. I'll probably take my wife to the Las Vegas Gladiators' game on Valentine's Day this year. How's that for romantic?
