Babe Ruth and it isn't close.

One great power hitter whose name you never hear anymore was Jimmie Foxx who was probably the greatest right handed power hitter ever.

might be Ted Williams ....considering he missed like 4 of his prime years due to wartime duties.

The two most Paul Bunyan statistical seasons of all time were:

1919- Ruth playing for the Redsox had 29 HR's the entire team had 33 HR's
Ruth had 88% of his teams HR's. That year he had more Homeruns than 10
of the 15 other major league teams.

1953- Williams returned from the Korean War in August 1 every 7 AB's953, Williams practiced with the Red Sox
for ten days before playing in his first game, garnering a large ovation from the crowd and hitting a
home run in the eighth inning.[SUP][112][/SUP] In the season, Williams ended up hitting .407 with 13 home runs
and 34 RBIs in 37 games and 110 at bats. Williams Slg. .901 with a HR every 7 AB's.

Forget about Bonds his steroids error video games stats can not compare with these two.

THE STEROID ERA:
FROM 1903-1949 THERE WERE 44 PLAYERS WHO HIT OVER 30 HR'S IN A SEASON, Less than 1 a year
In the year before Bonds hit 73 HR's, 2000 46 Major Leaguers League hit over 30 HR's

Why not post slugging Pct? I mean, this is not a real debate fellas. Debate second place but first place is as easy a choice as any we can make when comparing players from different eras. Also, if you compare the eras it just widens the gap for how incredible Ruth was.

SLGGING PCT:
has always been my fav stat along with OPS ;

Every year from 1941 to 1957 Ted Williams led the league in OPS & SLG except for
Mantles TC year in 1956.

Babe Ruth did not dominate in his era to that extent. I give Williams a slight edge!
