I'm sure everyone here has watched SNL before. As for myself, I watch the repeats everyday on Comedy Network, and I am hooked. Now we've had some great characters on here, like Chevy Chase, Eddie Murphy, Gilda Radner, Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler, Norm Macdonald, Chris Kattan, Molly Shannon, David Spade, Mike Myers, Kevin Nealon, Rob Schneider, Chris Rock, Dana Carvey, Dennis Miller, to name a few...

_________

My favorite is DEFINITELY.... Chris Farley.. Man, this guy really really kills me. I have yet to see anyone come as close as him in talent wise. He was so talented and so funny. There will never be another Chris Farley, IMO..

And the worst for me by far, is Cheri Oteri.. Man, do i despise her. She drives me insane. Does anyone hear find this woman to be funny at all? I find she tries too hard. Sometimes, I just feel like smacking her.

Who's your favorite of all time?

Good choices so far boys. Fishhead, you're right, but I am watching SNL now as we speak, and if Chris Farley doesn't get the most votes here, I really will be shocked.

Although Adam Sandler is giving him a run for his money. He really was good too.. Funny as hell..

I used to think that the mid 70's cast was untouchable, until this cast came in. Boy, these guys ruled. I don't think SNL will ever touch this cast here. Talk about an all star team here..

1992-1993
Dana Carvey (1992)
Ellen Cleghorne
Chris Farley
Phil Hartman
Melanie Hustell
Tim Meadows
Mike Myers
Kevin Nealon
Chris Rock
Adam Sandler
Rob Schneider
David Spade
Julia Sweeney
Al Franken (F)
Robert Smigel (F)

today's cast really sucks.. no one funny..

has anyone else here noticed a trend? All the votes so far have been on the people that have passed on..

I said Chris Farley

A few said Gilda... A few said Phil Hartman, and a few said Belushi.. no others..

What's going on here? Is this coincidence, or is there a sentimental value here because these people all died at a young age, and we all have a soft heart for them.

Come on boys, you can't sit here and tell me Gilda was the funniest, or even Hartman. Hartman was great, but he wasn't tremendously funny, was he?

My favorite was Farley. Everything he did made me laugh out loud.

My most hated was Mary Gross. Couldn't stand how she looked or sounded. She is the sister of Michael Gross who was the father on Family Ties.

Sandler was funnier AFTER he left he show in my opinion.

Farley has to be the answer here... He had some classic characters in the Motivation Speaker, the "Da bears" guy, etc..

I think I agree with Sick that Cheri O'teri was the most annoying of all time. She rarely had anything funny to say.

There are too many to really make that choice.

But over all in order I would have to say:

1) John Belushi (he could make you laugh without speaking)
2) Dan Ackroyd (Impersonations)
3) Phil Hartman (Impersonations)
4) Eddie Murphy (When he first did bucwheat I almost died)

All the others just followed the above.

SCTV launched some of the BEST SNL comedians. John Candy was better on SCTV than any of his movies

A little off-topic but has anyone noticed that Dana Carvey is turning into Robin Williams slowly but surely, year after year????

It used to be on a late-night show like Letterman or Leno they could carry on a conversation with Carvey, but lately, he won't shut up for 2 seconds to let them get a word in edgewise. I think he feels he always has to be "on".

FunkSoulBrother - I now what you mean.

But the last time I saw Jim Carey he was even worse he wouldn't shut up. He was doing his same routine he has always been doing. >Which is the same thing he did on In Living Color and all of his movies. And how many times can you laugh at the same stuff?

CANT BELIEVE YOU DONT LIKE CHERI OTERI......SNL LOSING HER WAS THE WORST FEMALE LOSS FOR THE SHOW SINCE JAN HOOKS.....

SHE IS GREAT AT IMPERSONATIONS, SHE DOES AN AWESOME JUDGE JUDY, AND THE OLD LADY THAT TAKES ALL THE PILLS CRACKS ME UP...NOT TOO MENTION THE "MORNING LATTE" SKITS, BASED AFTER REGIS AND KATHY WERE GREAT TOO...HER AND MOLLY SHANNON WERE THE BEST FEMALE DUO ON THERE SINCE GILDA AND JANE CURTAIN.......
