1) Experience working with the members of the US Congress is extremely helpful for a new President.

Obama = 4 yrs/1400 days
Palin = 0 days (unless we want to count her personal dealings with recently defrocked Alaska Congressman Ted Stevens)

2) Experience visiting and working with government officials in foreign countries and people in foreign cultures also very helpful

Using a "grading scale", with A being a lot of such experience

Obama = C
Palin = F

Other than those two clear advantages for Senator Obama, the remainder of comparisons are subjective based on your personal opinion of their makeup, integrity, education levels etc

Let's see, Obama was president of the Harvard Law Review, and Palin went to six different colleges/junior colleges.

Oh come on, 1) Palin was mayor of a small town in Alaska and 2) she can see Russia from where she lives, what else do you want? It's so easy to debunk you lefty loonies...

It was Feb. 10, 2007 and it was exactly 143 working days since his inauguration. Do the math. Senate working days that is.

On February 10, 2007, Obama announced his candidacy for President of the United States in front of the Old State Capitol building in Springfield, Illinois.

No lying here. worked as Senator 143 days before he began running for Prez. Clearly not a lie. Nice try though.

He was in office approx. 767 days before running for Prez. I'll be nice and say you were just incorrect and didn't get it wrong intentionally.

The best answer ...

If we're going to go by qualifications based on days worked, let's elected Ted Kennedy or Ted Stevens.

Let Sera Pailin' have one of her 5 kids graduate college, at least ... then we can let her do more than bring me my bacon and eggs in the morning.

This the original citation. It has been widely reported and has not been refuted to my knowledge.

Obama's 143 Days of Senate Experience

Just how much Senate experience does Barack Obama have in terms of actual work days? Not much.
From the time Barack Obama was sworn in as a United State Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days of experience in the Senate. That's how many days the Senate was actually in session and working.
After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World, and fill the shoes of Abraham Lincoln, FDR, JFK and Ronald Reagan.
143 days -- I keep leftovers in my refrigerator longer than that.
In contrast, John McCain's 26 years in Congress, 22 years of military service including 1,966 days in captivity as a POW in Hanoi now seem more impressive than ever. At 71, John McCain may just be hitting his stride.

Here's another citation from wiki.answers dot com. So we can now agree that you calling me a liar was silly?

Obama was sworn in as a Senator on January 4, 2005.

You can do the counting yourself, but as of today (August 11, 2008) I count 3 years, 7 months, 7 days. As of today, that makes 1,318 days.
Actually, this is a gross overstatement.
If you consider only the number of work days in the senate from the time of his election until he formed his presidential campaign, Obama served 144 days in the senate. McCain has served just under 2,000.
