Velardez is fighting Matt Vanda on Showbox Thursday night and is at +355. Vanda is a talentless joke who lost his last fight on ESPN but was givin a bs decision by the Minnesota judges. This fight will also be in Minnesota.
I really want to bet against Vanda because he is such a bum but I dont know anything about Velardez. Is he good enough to beat Vanda and the judges?

Also Ben Dunne is -370 against Adrian Valdez. I really like Dunne as a fighter, does anybody know anything about Valdez?

Velerdez was supposed to be next big thing in a long line of brothers fighting. I opened thsi around -280 and it got bet up unreal fast. He will probably win, and get screwed in Minny. I agree, Vanda's on the fence right now, and can be bumped off at any time. Garr beat him and got blatently robbed. Hopefully they will have competant judges. Dog may need a KO though. He passed up alater fight to fight Vanda. As for Dunnes opponent, if he can punch, he has a chance. Dunne is chinny, but skilled.

Don't let me sway u on it. I think Vanda sux too, but your talking to a guy thats been on Khalid Jones-draw, Emanual Augustus-L, and the Greek kid that had the draw vs Urango in the past month. I have shit luck when it comes to these bad decs, but its gotta turn sooner or later. Vanda isnt very good and this dog will give an honest fight.

I wouldn't touch a Vanda fight when it's in his Home town. Talk about Corrupt

nothing much to add...vanda is bogus....mediocre sam garr ,who has a loser`s mentality, should have blown vanda out....

velardez will basically have to decapitate vanda to win....

still,at almost 4-1,it`s tempting....

31-0?......that`s the midwestern circuit for you....

if vanda`s a legit 31-0 fighter,then rosie o`donnell doesn`t wear underwear with a dick-hole in them...

and you just know she does...

i know that dunne is "the darling" in some circles..a white guy with some amateur pedigree.....as joey said,he has chin issues....

i don`t think he`s as good as some do....he`s very thin,if i recall....i think a strong,physical guy could rough him up a bit...

but,his people aren`t putting him in with anybody with a pulse that can punch....

there goes my cualthemoc vargas/over in vanda-velardez parlay.....

Well Ive made some phone calls and have done a little investigating. Minnesota no longer has a boxing commission afer Jesse Ventura decided that it was going to be part of his budget cuts.
So this fight is going to be sanctioned by the Colorado Boxing Commission via a commission called the American Boxing Commission (which I am not able to find any information regarding).

Anyway, I spoke with a guy from Team Freedom Promotions who is promoting this fight and he told me that this will be a whole different scenerio than the Garr fight. He said that for the last fight all 3 judges were from Minnesota and that this time 2 will be from Colorado and 1 from Minnesota.

He also told me that the Josef Mason is the head of the CBC and that he is the primary guy involved in sanctioning the fight.

So I called Joe. This guy was pretty defensive at first because I told him that I was a reporter with boxrec.com and he thought that they only posted results and didnt do any reporting. I told him that we are starting to now. Anyway, I just wanted to get a feel for if this decision is bought and paid for already and after talking to Joe I'm still not sure. But I do know that this time all three judges wont be from Minnesota.

Im going to take a shot on Velardez anyway. Just wanted to let him know that I'll be watching.

almly.....is it o.k. if i address you as "geraldo" from now on?.......lol

you`re a piece of work,bud....

before we both expire,we are gonna have to sit down and have a beer together...

we`ve got a couple of slow weeks but after that, the action gets pretty consistent....

g.l.,my man...

don`t miss that deadline...

I actually am Geraldo with a twist. My oringinal intention was to find out the three judges names for the fight and then call all three personally and threaten them with bodily harm.

lol....actually,from what i saw of vanda vs garr,a small wager seems like a decent idea considering you get almost 4-1...

vanda may be a little bigger than velardez...i think velardez is closer to a natural welter...still,for a small "no pain" wager, why the hell not...

it`s ashamed that velardez isn`t much of a puncher....he`ll probably have to win by decision....

almly, big props for the investigative work. If nothing else you put it in his mind that someone is watching. Way to go!

and to add I had money on Vanda because I thought Garr was/is a bum. I felt extremely lucky to get that decision.

I threw 4 bills on Velardez and layed a dime on Dunne at -384. Two plays which probably arent great ideas but I did it anyway.

That Dunne play was just a dumb play. Not only because it doesnt make any sense to risk $1000.00 to win $250.00 but also because Dunne didnt even look good in his last 6 roound fight on ESPN. I had him losing tonight by about 2 points. Another bad decision. Dunne was weak.

Ive held Freddy in a very high regard after watching what he's done the last couple of years with his fighters but Im losing alot of respect for him. Why the fuk does he let Dunne just dance in without jabbing or throwing a punch? If youre going to jump in on a guy it better be behind a punch. Also, I dont like Freddy's non motivational attitude in between rounds. If your guy is fighting a shitty fight you need to get on his ass in between rounds. Im just not impressed with Freddy at all. It doesnt look like he's taught Dunne any additional skills. I mean he cant even teach the guy how to jab. Or when he lands a good punch he sits there and jacks off until he gets clobbered with a counter. Ben Dunne needs alot more work before he's ready for the bigtime.

I won about $1700 tonight but I should of broke even. Didnt deserve it. I actually thought Vanda looked pretty good for the first few rounds but his mental and physical conditioning needs improvement. But I think Vanda at least showed some improvement from his last fight and he's still pretty new to the fight game.

Anyway, I'm not leaving the lesson behind that I got tonight. Dont push or force things just because you think a guy might win and dont lay alot of wood on a guy unless your damn sure hes gonna come thru. Its just doesnt make sense.

congrats,my brotha.....

bask in the limelight...don`t beat yourself up...

two excellent calls...you made me some jack by pushing me over the edge to throw a few dollars against vanda....

well,my second look at vanda hasn`t changed my mind.....he`s pretty much a stiff....for a 31-0 guy...another midwestern poser from the ham n` egger circuit...

he got stopped by,basically, a legit welterweight with mediocre(at best) power.....

when i see a 31-0 guy that hasn`t even sniffed a fringe contender, the red flag goes up....and seeing him vs sam garr,i`m shocked that i needed a push to go against vanda...

congrats,my man....well done...

this does screw up my plans for friday night,though....now that i know that "THE ALIEN" beats "THE PREDATOR"....

Thanx but Dunne wasnt an excellent call. We have like nothing on the horizon here. Nada that I like until DLH vs Hopkins.

Congratulations almy after your phone calls i invested some change against vanda really small time though.
But you are right with your attiude of critcism of your winning bet. I really changed my mind about betting favorites in boxing i won quite some money laying 5 figures on favorits around - 500 but the game of boxing is so unpredictible that i believe i will never make a boxing bet on more than - 300. (and even that sounds awfully high)
I had to lose two big ones to learn it, if you can learn it from winning bets props to you.
