I live in LA and when I make 5K or over bets usually run to Vegas and lay the action down instead of using an offshore. I keep getting in trouble and sidetracked in Vegas when I do this and the 5 hour drive sucks. I'm moving to San Diego shortly and since TJ has sports books I was thinking I would just drive the half hour when I want to bet big on something.

I was wondering if there is anyone who does this and if you could share your experience with me.

puebloamigo has a nice seafood shishkabob, they are putting up some weak halftime numbers rightnow, I make a day of it with a round of golf at Tijuana Country Club who offers caddie service. The Border traffic takes 15-45 minutes depending on what mood the US marshalls are in.

I would primarily want to go there to lay down some money on a big boxing bet. Is this Jai lai sports book the only decent one in the whole town?
And are they standup? And do they do boxing? Like Klitschko vs Johnson for example?

What about the caliente? I thought they were the biggest book in TJ? The only sportsbook in Cancun
is Caliente but the Tijuana location is where they are run out of.

I'd rather sit here in my underwear with my feet propped up on my desk then deal with the hassle of TJ. It's 90% sh*thole. The other 10% is after the gringo buck. I used to run down there and play around. No more. Especially knowing Railbird might be lurking about.

Caliente charges you 2% on all winning bets. They are however very slow to move numbers & are very careless with futures. I would suggest looking at their website before you make the drive, to see if there is anything of value

Don't those Mexican books charge a funky commission on winning wagers?

Sometimes the 2% is a small price to pay. As I said some of their stuff is waaaaay out there

Thanx Dick, so that site is for both their offshore book and the lines are the same that they have posted at their local TJ casinos?
I never hear people talking about using Caliente as an offshore book.
