If you own a firearm, why do you own it? What all do you own? I have several, including a 1911 A1, an M4, a MAC-10 (post 1982 and therefore semi-auto closed bolt), and a Ka-bar utility knife.

"I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by six."

"Owning guns is dangerous. The only thing more dangerous is not owning them."

I'd rather have a gun and never really need one than really need a gun and not have one."

Anyone notice that the fear of another AWB is chasing prices sky-high and demand out of control? I'd like to get a .545 AK sometime (best of the "AKs" IMO and ammo is dirt cheap) but not willing to spend the overvalued price right now. BTW, Mexican criminals don't get 90% of their guns from the US. Especially since they prefer cheap Chinese and South Korean full-autos, 16s stolen from the Mexican army, grenades, and RPGs.

Mac 10 plus others, cause it make me feel gooder than if I did not have them. Also, I know how to use them cause this be da way I roll. Also, I know some martial art stuff, not to good at it, but I would not want to mess with me.

Stay cool. Be safe! I love life! :drink:

Coldweather...what type of a MAC? Open bolt Full Auto? OP SA? Who is the manufacturer? Just curious. No NFA in Illinois, otherwise I'd get the real deal.

Ingram 9/mm full auto, I think. Government give it to me. Not a big weapon, but it works in some situations. But I like other stuff. That just be the way I roll.

Um, I'm assuming it's registered under the NFA there Coldplay? The MAC family of weapons was never very popular with gov agencies or the military (though I know a few Gyrines in 'sthan who carry MAC .45s as side arms sometimes, but they're RECON/STA so they can carry what they want)

OOH RAH! Get SOME!

What else you got?

Im not a big "Gun" guy. But I do own 5.

Guns not only keep my family safe from intruders, but they are also a good investment.

I will never degrade anyone for their views and beliefs. But I just dont get the anti gun people.

Mexico has very strict anti gun laws and who has all the guns in that country? The F-ing outlaws.

Same thing would happen here if you outlawed guns. The law abiding citizens would turn them in for the most part and the thugs would run wild.

Utter nonsense.

I know a fair number of legal gun owners and not one of them would turn them into a government agency in the Utterly Imaginary scenario where those guns were "outlawed".

Which is why any proposed notion that "private gun ownership will be banned in the USA" is preposterous and justifiably described as delusional paranoia.

I suppose you are right. I wouldnt turn mine in and I have never even received a speeding ticket. (knock on wood)

Let me rephrase that. Most law abiding citizens would not break the law to obtain firearms illegally.

While the thugs would be obtaining them on the black market left and right.

*Somewhat moot since a "ban on all gun ownership in the USA" is not going to happen. But even in such a fictional future, the horse is out of the barn with at least 250 million privately owned firearms in the USA

*And I believe that even in such a fictional scenario, an incredible number of otherwise law-abiding Americans would hardly balk at getting whatever guns they wanted, just as tens of millions of otherwise law-abiding Americans routinely exchange money or other gratuities for desired drugs that the law deems illegal for them to possess.

In short, absent a legal, regulated commercial market, the illegal market - consisting mainly of other law-abiding Americans covertly dealing to like-minded family, friends and neighbors - will more than suitably fill the gap.

Though not as safely and smoothly as a legal, regulated market. And that latter note is the prevailing reason why the notion of an overall ban on private gun ownership would never pass - the Second Amendment notwithstanding.

Not sure what I would do if the gov't banned private firearm ownership. Would be tempted to turn them in, but the first step the Nazis, Pol Pot, Stalin, etc took was to change the history books and confiscate private weapons. I guess I might stash them in undisclosed locations known only to me, field stripped of course. Maybe I'd construct a zip gun out of innocuous parts for self defense, but probably not. Since the only part of most guns considered "firearms" is the lower receiver, that might come into play as well. Would depend on the circumstances.

So come on, what actual weapons do people own?

Sorry...was hasty to respond to the interim posts and did not yet reply to the Original Post question.

I do not at this time, nor have I ever personally owned firearms of any kind.

I have many trusted friends and business associates who own, ranging from a couple handguns to much larger and diverse collections.

I wonder if your home was ever broken into in the middle of the night if you would have a different perspective?....
