I was offered this bet for the season:

My friend will take Florida and Texas to win the NC, and I get to pick 3 teams. USC, Okla, Ohio St are the next 3 favorites and likely choices to take.

Which side would you take?

I would consider Penn St (who may beat Ohio St), or another SEC team
(LSU, Ala, or Geo) as Florida may not live up to expectations. You might even consider dropping USC. For what it is worth!

Oklahoma will win it all <><>

As an Okie I would love to see it but they will have to earn it.

Just wondering how you might feel about Buffalo this year. Can they match LY's success? They are a mystery team for me.

I would definately take your friends side. I think Texas wins it all. If not, then Florida. To win it all, you have to get to the big game. You get 3 choices. You do you have to choose from? Oklahoma, who can't win a BCS game. USC, who has a very difficult away schedule, and has managed to lose the "dumb" game every year since 2005. A Big 10 team? They are 0-6 in BCS games. Va. Tech? The survivor of the SEC West, whoever that may be? Okle State? The problem is not so much that Florida and Texas will win it all. It is more of who will win it if one of those two do not.

I switched up the sides to generate some discussion... but the bet is done now. I have Florida, Texas, and my buddy gave me one extra pick after his were done so I chose Bama. He has USC, Okla, and LSU. Should be fun to see how it plays out. I think I'm sitting pretty here.

You have a big advantage, but I would not have taken two teams in the same conference. I would have taken either Va. Tech or Penn State instead of 'Bama, only because you already have Florida.

Penn St returns only 9 starters on both sides of the ball, if I'm not mistaken. That kept me away.

And it's really tough for me to think Tyrod Taylor can take them to the NC game... really tough.

I understand that, but you have automatically eliminated one of your three choices by taking two teams in the same Conference. They can not play each other in the Big Game.

MG: Penn St has as good a chance of going undefeated as anyone in the country. Five sets of Steele's power ratings call for them to do exactly that. They only lost one game last year at Iowa and they do return their QB and 6 of 7 top rushers. I do not like them personally but I have to admit they have an easier path than most of the other contenders. It scares me to think it is a possibility.

Penn St. lost some key guys but they are getting close to reload status the way the recruiting has been lately. They have plenty of young stud WR's, are getting back arguably their best defender who was injured last season, and have plenty of talent filling the holes on the lines. Young talent doesn't always translate to success but they have a good coaching staff and with that soft OOC shedule, the young guys will have plenty of snaps before they go into conference play.

I think PSU should be very good team this year, just a shame they can't schedule better competition. I think them and Texas should be punished by the NCAA for D-Bag OOC sheduling and have to play a home and home against each other the next 2 years. They easily could be playing for it all this year though...

Another thing about Penn State. Who has a realistic chance of defeating them in the regular season? Ohhio State.Sure, but that gameis in State College. Iowa? Yes, but again that game is in State College and after a home scrimmage against Temple. Let's look at their away schedule. Illinois could pull an upset in Champaign, especially since that game folllows the above mentioned Iowa game, but that is still a stretch. That leaves the last game at Michigan State, a game that cannot be overlooked, but again, Penn State gets a break, having played Indiana at home before this game. So Penn State certainly does not have a real difficult schedule. If they get past Ohio State, they have a great chance of running the table.

I can see it all now Boise St, and Penn St the only undefeated teams with OU, Texas, Florida, and USC all with one loss. OMG.
