Facebook does not have an over 18 rule.

Myspace has in the past been primarily young kids with facebook taking the college and 20+ crowd, but now I think a lot of the myspace crowd uses both facebook and myspace.

This is pretty accurate. Facebook was more popular for college students a couple years ago because you needed a .edu email to sign up. Meaning you had to be in college or have gone to college. They went public about 2 years ago (give or take) and since has become more popular among high school kids as well.

Myspace on the other hand is and always has been open to anyone who can get on the internet. It's very popular for younger kids because of the ability to change your background, songs and this and that IMO.

I have them both, but I use my Facebook 10000x more than my Myspace. All I really do on Myspace is change my song..

If you are a facebook user, and get sick of the stupid game
updates, quizzes and virtual gifts, they have a new "lite" interface:

Simpler, fresher Facebook Lite puts Twitter in the shade

Facebook is currently testing a simplified version of its social network service aimed at countries where internet bandwidth is limited. But it may prove popular with other users tired of the currently over-fussy website.
The new system, named Facebook Lite, focuses on messaging and user updates and now looks far more similar to rival micro-blogging service Twitter.
It is available to a handful of users in the UK by going to http://lite.facebook.com. However, at present a preview of the service is only widely available in India and the US.

Industry experts are viewing the development as the latest in a series of moves from Facebook to take on Twitter.
In a statement, Facebook said: 'We are currently testing a simplified alternative to Facebook.com that loads a specific set of features quickly and efficiently.

'Similar to the Facebook experience you get on your mobile phones, Facebook 'Lite' is a fast-loading, simplified version of Facebook that enables people to make comments, accept Friend requests, write on people's Walls, and look at photos and status updates.
'We are currently testing Facebook Lite in countries where we are seeing lots of new users coming to Facebook for the first time and are looking to start off with a more simple experience.'
How Facebook and Facebook Lite compare...
When logging on to the Lite version I found the site far cleaner and easier to navigate - much how Facebook used to be before endless redesigns.

It has stripped my profile of the fun but useless applications such as 'How well do you know me?' quizzes, games and virtual gifts. Instead it shows my 'Message Wall' with the simple options of 'Write', 'Post photos' and 'Post video'. A 'Post link' option would be a valuable addition.

The over-fussy 'Highlights' right-hand column, which shows friends recently tagged in photos has disappeared. So too has the intrusive 'Suggestions' box that asks you to become a 'Fan' of bands and campaigns that your Facebook friends are signed up to.

The somewhat superfluous left-hand channel that allows you to split news feeds into 'Family' and 'HighSchool' has also been scrapped.

Unfortunately Facebook Lite does not include the Chat application, which tells you which friends are currently on the site and available to contact with instant messaging.

daily Facebook user. Great platform to keep in touch with people from all over. College friends, current friends, co-workers, etc. Great, great tool for networking, business use, and personal use. Any business owner should have a facebook page. Actually, any internet user should have a FB page.
.
Only use myspace for following bands these days. Only thing it's good for.

I have one. I thought everybody had one. I think it's annoying and I can't stand people, especially guys that constantly update it. Kind of dainty. I never update it or go on it much. I just keep it to keep in the loop about sports events, outings, socials, parties etc, because I swear nobody, especially the chics call or email you anymore they just use facebook. Very aggravating.

Stupid Facebook.

It's true. I remember the days when scoring a chics number actually meant something.

Just got one myself. Took less than 6 hours for two old girlfriends to find me. Not sure I need that kind of excitement in my life.

MySpace & Facebook have cause lots of problems, for lots of couples.

It's sites that only singles should use in my opinion, unless you're a couple who have your page together........

same here with my GF and sister (10x worse).

I wont put up my own page but I have to admit I cant get enough of other people's stuff. It's like a high school reunion everyday.

All the shitheads that didn't speak more than 5 sentences to me over 5 years........now are coming out of the woods asking me to 'add them ' to my friends list.......

On the good side.....I have reconnected with a couple good friends from highschool......and also discovered that my 1st boss is a friend of my wife's boss (no 6 degrees of separation......online is more like 3)
