i have missouri vs. florida.

missouri- strictly b/c of the weakest schedule in the big 12. they should have a better d-fense this year too! they have only 3 possible losses on the schedule! @texas, kansas in kc, and the big 12 champ. game which will be ou! i dont think ou will be as good as everyone thinks this year! texas w/ be lucky to go .500 in the conf.(i think they will really struggle this year)

and the thang about missouri is they dont have to run the table to play in the championship game! if they are 12-1 w/ the exposure they created last year they are playing for it all!

florida- the best team in the sec hands down! georgia i gues you can argue but the have too tough of a schedule! fsu is down again, which is usually a tough game, and everyone in the country knows that you can have 2 losses in the sec and still win a title! its bs but i think it could be the case again this year!

the only other team i considered replacing one of the teams is west virg.

they have a cupcake schedule as well and their conf. is terrible!

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?

we will be a better team but have a lot tougher schedule!

I THINK 9-3 WOULD BE A VERY SUCESSFUL SEASON! OUR LINEBACKERS ARE AWESOME THIS YEAR! WE LOSE TALIB IN OUR SEC. BUT ALOT OF YOUNG TALENT FOLLOWS HIM! WE ARE FINALLY GETTING SOME TOP NOTCH PLAYERS THERE NOT JUST THE LEFT OVERS FROM OU AND TEXAS. THE GAME I WOULD PLAY ON THEM THIS YEAR IS KU ML VS. TEXAS. THEY GOT F-ED LAST TIME THEY PLAYED IN LAWRENCE! WE HAVE BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT GAME FOR 4 YEARS NOW!

I THINK YOU GUYS HAVE A PRETTY GOOD SHOT TO WIN IT ALL! MY WHOLE FAMILY IS OU FANS. SO I KIND OF HAD ACT LIKE I WAS ROOTING OU BUT DEEP DOWN I AM GLAD YAL KILLED THOSE COCKY BITCHES!

WE WILL FIND OUT IF KU IS FOR REAL 2ND GAME OF THE YEAR THEY PLAY AT S. FLORIDA!

Florida, loses one game but beats Georgia headsup so they advance to the championship game to play Colt Mccoy and Texas who will some how escape unblemished until they meet the gators. Florida has a better overall schedule compared to buckeyes after their loss to USC

Ohio State - Loaded for bear once again and if they beat USC will be there for third time in a row.

I can see a BIG 12 team this year like Oklahoma or Missouri

SEC is going to beat each other up this year so not this year

To be honest I wouldn't shock me if you see Ohio St and USC play 2 times this year.

I really believe this may happen as well. USC, similiar to OSU probably has only about 2 or 3 teams that can beat them. I can see a repeat as well.

I remember that game ... it was after that game that the kansas coach cried like a chubby little girl about the officiating. USF will be s 6 point favorite in that game and you have to love them at that price to take care of kansas.

The loss of Talib is huge. Having him shutdown half the field vs the pass allowed them to do a lot defensively. That will be impossible for them to replace. Kansas has some easy wins on the schedule and should hit about 7 wins, maybe 8 ... 4-4 in conference. They also only have 4 true away games. They played in Texas the year after the crybaby game and texas won by 52.... that was the game where you would expect the "revenge" angle to come into play. No one on these two teams was playing in 2004 , really.

Prior to last year the jayhawks were a terrible ATS team over the last ten years. 11-1 last year healed a lot of kansas backers pocket books but this team clearly takes a step backwards this year.

I really don't see Kansas as much of a different team than last season..The only unit off the team that will be down from last season is their defensive backfield..Virtually everything else looks the same to me...But the problem with Kansas is the perception they are a top 10 team...They aren't...And they weren't last season either..Kansas played only 2 top 25 teams last year during the regular season..Number 24 Kansas State, who they barely beat 30-24...Kansas State went on to lose 6 more games on the year and ended up a 5-7 team..So they really weren't even a top 25 team..That leaves number 3 Mizzou, who despite the 36-28 score, had a relatively easy game and was never in any trouble of losing to Kansas..And in their bowl game the 11-3 Va Tech team they played was way overrated at number #5. And they played in the weakest BCS conference in college football. They showed their true colors when they went out of conference and got spanked by LSU 48-7...So even though it was a nice win by the rock chalk Jayhawks, it wasn't a great win over a top program..

Here are some of the other wins that Kansas had last season: Beat Colorado, a team in transition with a second year coach and a depleted defense. Nebraska, a poorly coached team with a coach on his way out. And a terrible defense..Texas A&M, another poorly coached team with a coach on his way out. OSU, was probably their best game and best win of the season...But keep in mind that OSU was just a 6-6 team on the season. And never ranked in the top 25. And they also had a poor defense...See Troy, Texas Tech games.. This is what Kansas faces this season:

at South Florida...A well coached team in a game played down in the Florida heat.

Colorado...Improved over last season

at Oklahoma...One of the best teams in the country

Texas Tech...Much improved over last season. Possible top 10 team..

at Nebraska...A team who will at least be improved fundamentaly..Plus it's being played in Lincoln

Texas...Improved over last season. Probable top 10 team

Missouri...At least as good as last year...Probably better. Top 10 team

Another big thing going against Kansas: Their facing 4 of the top 5 QB's in the country..Something their defense didn't have to deal with last season...And in all liklihood all of these teams will be rated in the top 25..With at least 2 or 3 in the top 10...MUCH different than last season. This isn't about what I think of Kansas...Personally I like the Jayhawks and their coach..But they are perceived by many to be a top 10 power..And they just aren't...This year they are a pretty solid midlevel Big 12 conference team...Teams that I think are better in this league are:

Oklahoma
Oklahoma State (could be much improved)
Texas
Texas Tech
Missouri

That puts Kansas at 6th at best in the league this season. And their probably running neck and neck with Colorado.

Nice discussion.

I do think kansas is a lesser team than a year ago. The defense will suffer from the NFL STAR CALIBER db that they lose. The coach is good and he gets the most out of what he has. Also, the Reesing kid is tough as nails and shows up every single week. While, I definitely never bought into them being a top ten team last year , I am also not buying into them being moer than a top 18-23 team this year.

The Virginia Tech bowl game was a bit of a joke. VT could have handed the ball off on every play and won that game. One of the worst coaching performances of the entire year. I lost a lot of respect for Beamer as a coach last year , not only from that game but from a couple of others.

With that said, I may have a bias against the jayhawks , since I never bet on them last year and bet against them three times , losing all three.:think2:

I think you should take the UF/GA game winner under consideration for a potential player.
I do...I'm just not sure with the balance of power in the SEC that anybody can get out of the conference with less than two losses..And to tell you the truth I'm not sure any Big 12 team can either. If this happens to both of those conferences, we could see something funky happen like a Clemson-USC or OSU matchup...Or quite possibly a USC-OSU rematch...But I think there are some darkhorse players who could catch fire and get in like Auburn, Tennessee, Missouri or possibly even West Virginia or Oregon.....I don't think anybody rated in the preseason top 10 is beyond the realm of possiblitly...But one important thing I like to look for with these potential BCS title game candidates is talent or good big game experience at QB...I think the teams that best qualify are OSU, Florida, OU, Clemson, Texas, WV and Missouri. Something tells me two teams out of this pool are more than likely to get in.

totally agree sooners.....i think the best conference will be the big 12 followed by the sec.....the sec is just to tough....big 12 you will have ou, texas texas tech, mizz, a better colo team, neb can upset people ....just a tough conference.....if clemson can get past alabama they may have a chance....same with a sfla, if they can get by an early date with kansas they may sail to the wvu game unbeaten.....i like those pool plays and may add usc and i think the NC comes from that.....

this clown car guy is an idiot! i am scared for u to be in vegas!

#1 that fat crybaby was your national coach of the year last year! and if u knew anything about the bcs, he was making a point saying that all they wanted was big name schools to play in the bcs instead of who really deserves it! and kansas had no shot that year so he was trying to help other colleges not his!

#2 you must have not watched kansas last year b/c talib had an avg. year at best! although he had a lot of picks, he got caught gambling alot too! and stuckey & harper are both better cover guys! so do some homework before you start talking like talib is deion sanders!

as for s. florida i do think it will be a tough game but they lost a ton as well last year! i think we are better on both sides of the ball but if we turn it over none of that matter!

Read everything i say. I give the coach props in this very thread. I have seen his tirade on youtube many times. He wasn't trying to help other colleges , he was trying to say that oklahoma and texas get every call in conference play for the money big bowl games bring the conference. He was out of line and wrong. BTW he was also wrong concerning the officiating of that particular game.

Also, I doubt that you have done more homework than I have concerning college football. If you have , kudos to you , because I have been working tirelessly in preparation for the upcoming season.

As far as Talib , you will see the difference manifest more in their rush defense stats this year. The reality is they were able to commit more men to LOS and defend the run because they left him out there one-on-one a lot last year. Of course that will result in some "gambling" as you put it. They will allow considerably more rushing yards per game this year and considerably more points per game this year.

I have been doing my homework from the perspective of winning money. My thoughts are not warped from the crimson and blue tinted glasses that you might be wearing.

Good team , good coach , tough little QB .. but they take a step baskwards this year defensively and don't have the easy schedule of a year ago to hide their deficiencies. 7 wins , maybe 8.

Wrong how? He just spewed what everybody else knows. I give him some credit for having the hangers (aka balls) to speak his mind.

Bottom Line teams like USC (more so than anyone), OSU, OU, and the rest of the "creme de la creme" get beneficiary calls. Regardless if these calls were applied to this particular game or not his assesment over this issue is correct. This truly is common knowledge.

Good luck

IF YOU PLAN ON MAKING MONEY CONSISTANTLY GAMBLING ON COLLEGE FOOTBALL! GOOD LUCK! IT JUST DOESNT HAPPEN! GAMBLING SHOULD BE FOR FUN NOT A WAY TO PAY YOUR BILLS!

AND BY THE WAY THAT WAS A TERRIBLE CALL! I PROB. WOULD HAVE GONE OFF WORSE THAN THAT IF I WOULD GOTTEN SCREWED AGAINST A TEAM I HADNT BEATING IN OVER 50 YEARS!

AND YES I AM PRETTY BIAS I SAID THE THEY WOULD WIN 8 OR 9 GAMES! YEAH THAT SURE MAKES ME A HOMER!

BY THE WAY OUR RUN DEFENSE WILL BE BETTER THIS YEAR THAN LAST! AND WE HAVE THE BEST LB IN THE COUNTRY!

I AM MORE WORRIED ABOUT REPLACING HENRY AND MCANDERSON THAN I AM TALIB! TAKE KU ML AGAINST TEXAS AND SEE WHAT HAPPENED!
