Disagree about writeups being overrated. In fact, its the ONLY way you can tell if a capper has his wits about him. You can latch onto a capper hitting 60% without writeups only to find that his favorite color is green so he stuck with the Eags, Jets and Pack all year. There's usually good info in a writeup, and even if the info is bad its quickly pointed out here in the forums. You can also find out whose opinion your not interested in. I know some cappers here will skip right past my own posts if they don't value statistical edges, and I've learned to skip past players who base their plays solely on their perception of what the public side is. If you don't know where they're coming from you can't really make any judgements about their capping skills. As for "swaying" somebody else, its your money at risk, so ultimately you should rely on someone who cares about it, namely yourself. Read the opinions, extract the info, be informed, but make your own decisions.

spacious k was the best BY FAR last season BUT dogs hit at a 60% clip SO if it goes back to the norm of 50% fav 50% dog we will see how he holds up.i hope he does well he seems to be a good guy

I feel I was one of the better ones especially with outright dog winners.

egd, did you post them as plays on the dog m/l? or after the fact did you realize your dogs won outright and would have won everybody alot of money? big difference, and if not your just adding to the hype. iv'e been thru the nfl here the last 2 seasons and guys who say they won outnumber the guys who win ATLEAST 20-1 but can get away with it by spinning their record

No, I posted my plays here & on other forums for people to see. I don't need to spin things just to boost my ego over the internet. I have seen the people you described though.

Hache, you are correct. A writeup should include BOTH arguments for and against playing on a team. It's rarely done, and to do it right takes a lot of time. Most people do writeups with ALL the reasons to take ONE team, and leave out arguments to do the opposite. Since betting on a sports team is NEVER a 100% propostion, a good deal of info should be supplied as reasons to take the opposite team.

Most of the time a team has less than a 60% chance of covering ATS, so in reality a writeup should devote a good deal of info supplying reasons for taking the opposite team. That way a reader can see as much about the matchup as possible and weigh what is presented, and make a qualified decision for himself. If only 1 team is glorified in the writeup then natural human bias assumes a higher than actual chance of winning (and since few hit over 60% it is only natural that people come back and say that the writer sucks- when actually it was the one-sided WRITEUP that sucked).

It's tough enough getting cappers here to explain why they're taking a side, much less getting them to explain the downfalls. It's enuff to give the reasons you're going with a play. I don't see the value in making disclaimers, let somebody on the other side make their arguments. At a minimum I'd like to see just one reason why somebody's making a play, but I like details even better.

DE NIRO, I'm not sure, actually I live just a bit closer to Tampa now, so I get the Bucs and I'm thinking you may receive the same.

Hache - I include writeups with my selections so people can see that I'm actually handicapping the games.

ATX - Interesting point about writeups as to why you shouldn't bet on a game. After I have handicapped the weeks card and have made my picks I immediately start looking for reasons why I should not bet on the games I've selected. If I find can find one solid reason not to wager on it, I back off. But it's a good feeling when you can find another reason to take the team you believe is the right side.

Spacious K & Broken are great Spacious manages the season extremely well.(something I may take up this year) Both Broken and Spacious have a great knowledge of the game too.

Dogball had a monster year last year.

If you want to know every inkling of info for any match-up SixthSense is your man. The most comprehensive weekly write up on every matchup.
