FYI, I thought I might point out who has been the best and the worst NFL teams so far against the spread so far in the early season as it may help some in picking upcoming games:

Best:
1. NY Jets 2-0
2. Oakland 3-0
3. Jacksonville 3-0
4. Indianapolis 3-0
5. New England 2-0
6. Philadelphia 3-0
7. Seattle 3-0


Worst:
1. St. Louis 0-3
2. Tampa Bay 0-3
3. Buffalo 0-2
4. Cincinnati 0-3
5. Kansas City 0-3

If N.E. is 2-0 than Indy cant be 3-0. that line opened 3.5 and finished at 3.0 didnt it? so that makes n.e. 1-0-1 or 1-1? and Indy is either 2-0-1 or 3-0. which is it?

More often than not you are better off going against these trends. Once a team has won 3 or 4 games in a row ATS then the line has to go up to protect the books from all the public jumping on the bandwagon.

One of the more reliable systems around is to just tally up how much a team has covered or not covered the spread by (do it for totals too if you wish) and then bet on a regression to head back towards zero. Doing this you bet on a lot of "ugly" teams and totals, but it usually works in a parity dominated sport.

i think the rams are still a good team to fade. they are not good and the public still thinks its 1999. martz is the worst coach in the league.

I suggest that if you use a system of some type using trends, then you pick a source for your closing number and you use that source only. Do your own tracking as I have seen various differences from my numbers than what I see elsewhere.

I start to fade after three in a row. last year was tough early as Minn and K.C. went like 6-0 or so. the esat of year was o.k. and prvious year was good. Indy plays Jacksv so no action as both are w w However I believe fading Philly is on the card.
