SportSavant, it takes time, when I first came on this site I had my own way of capping. But as I took some time to read and ask question from some of the people here, I was able to determine who I thought was solid and who I thought was not. Its a personal opinion, and I think that that is what you will get from some of the others who answer your question. My advice, is to take your time, and learn. Their is a shit load of talented cappers here, as compared to the other sites. A shit load. But so that I dont miss anyone or unintentionally miss mentioning someone, I just have to offer that advice. Aloha CC.

I would never tell someone to bet a game blind, but if you see the following post games, take a very long look at them....

Railbird
Makers (needs to post more)
Action

Welcome -- this is a very good site

It is interesting that most everyone who replied to this thread is new and some of the guys you mentioned to watch are posting here for the first time. A few games does not make a season. Anyone can have a nice run to start the season, it is a true professional that can show consistency over more than just a few weeks. Granted, some of the posters you mentioned have done well so far this year but it is the end of the year and year after year that count. How soon people on this sight forget about posters who were here all of last year and had great records.

I myself miss College Guru and his selections.

Omaha will make you money, be very careful with some of the posters listed above most, this is the first year posting. Example NYREB started out very hot last year but ended up in the negitive for the year if you include juice, same with College Guru last year. YES I tracked both. Action and lockline very solid.

I would add the following:

Co Captain (especially relating to Hawaii sports)

Dr. Death (football)

Smokey (football)

Black and Gold (all sports)

Sixth Sense (great NFL write ups)

Hope this helps.

Being relatively new to the RX, it would be inappropriate for me to comment on any particular cappers ability so I leave that to those who have already commented.

However, having personally been capping for over 30 years, I have seen good cappers come and go busted by time, action and lack of the ability to money manage.

It would be nice to see cappers show their record for all to see. Some already do and some do not. Those confident enough to show their record speaks volumes. This does not mean that those who choose not to reveal their record are any less capable. It just provides the reader with more information.

Just some thoughts. As always, good luck to all as we all have the same desire to be successful and hopefully can help each other achieve that goal.

I agree with oldmanted

you can tell alot from a handicapper if they post their records and how many "units, stars..etc" they are up. people go on hot streaks and say "i'm 3-0 or 4-0 over the weekend" that means nothing. Those who post their actual records, and if they are good, are the ones you should follow.

DAWGMAN has indicated in previous threads that he "does not" handicap but does provide service plays for those who are interested. He does however provide his plays based on "information". To his credit, he does not try to deceive anyone and does a lot of work in gathering information for this board and should be commended for it.

Perhaps those who have not been posting their records & who would like to start with a zero slate should start as of Tomorrow...YTD ETC...I like the way SSI does it, very simple, each game is 1 unit so his record is easy to follow...

There is also a very important element to the "unit, stars, etc.". I see a lot of cappers showing a range up to 10 or more units while others may only go up to 5. The key burning question here is how much is the value of each unit. For instance a dime player who rates his plays 1*-5* is wagering a great deal more than a dollar player rating his plays 1*-10*. A dime players 1* equals a dollar players 10*. This is misleading to the reader. When they see 10*, they may think that this is a strong play which it may be, but a 1* play from dime player may go unnoticed because it is assumed to be a small play. It would be nice to see either the value of a cappers unit together with his record or as said make each game 1 unit or have all cappers use a common unit value.

Some of the guys that tracked their plays the whole season last year:
Hansen Bros. 128-104
NYSPORTS 72-46
Lockline- best bets only- 24-10
fivedoorsdown 237-223
jwunderdog 117-92
Bucsfan was also positive for the year but lost track of his record. He may know it.

These may be off by a couple of games because it got confusing during the final four.
