Guy took a monster pay cut to stay in Chicago... If the team can build a bullpen for next year they should be a monster threat once again...

Staff will be

1. Buerhle
2. Garland
3. Vazquez
4. Danks
5. Gonzalez (Who is one of the phenoms of pitching prospects)

Hunter should be in center field next year for the White Sox.... Ryan Sweeney will be in right field and they will look into signing or trading for a SS....

Josh Fields will be in left
Crede back at third
Pierzynski catching
Konerko at first
Iguchi should be signed
It will be whole new outfield and bull pen...

But Buerhle showed not every athlete is greedy... I believe he signed for 14 million a year for 4 seasons which is a major pay cut

$56 mill over 4 years were the reportings this week...def. a home town discount, hopefully Buerhle got his 'no trade clause' for taking a reduced market contract- because he surely would've received more on the open market.

And I wouldn't call Gio Gonzalez a phenom (so to speak). He's only rated to be #72 out of 100 according to baseballamerica.com (as well as being trade twice already).

He'll likely be a middle of rotation type of guy.

hmmm...

ESPN is reporting that the deal is worth $56 million and includes that would make it a five-year, $75 million if he's traded. That would seem to suggest that Buehrle didn't get the full no-trade clause he wanted.

But I would imagine he'll be protected by MLB's 10-5 rule...by the time that 5th year would kick in.

Great deal for both player & team.

Is the bullpen gonna hit???? Is the bullpen gonna coach????
Until they fire the absolute worst manager in baseball they will not move forward. When they won in 2005 it was not because of Guillen, It was IN SPITE of Guillen. Guy is a idiot. Game after game he makes horrible decisions and nothing beats watching the sox get ass raped every day while this fool is laughing in the dugout the whole time.

Stop drinking the kool-aid.. They are bottom dwellers for a long time to come

Wish I could find the post Manje had where he said the Sox were about one year away from taking over the city. At least the scalpers are losing their asses on them this year. :missingte

Here is the big problem: They play in CLEARLY the best division in baseball and are going in the wrong direction as the others.

Buehrle is 18-17 the last two seasons.

People make him out like he's Cy Young reincarnate.

I wouldn't be happy with having Vazquez and Danks remaining in the back end of the rotation for next season.

The bullpen has blown 10-15 games already this year. Don't kid yourself thinking he is a .500 pitcher.

What did they expect the bullpen would do when they traded for all the shitty Royals former bullpen guys that sucked.

:pope: Harry Carey, thanks.

Post 15:

Reinsdorf won a World Series and the Sox are looking to take over the city. For the first time in like 10 years the Sox had higher TV ratings, and were very close to outdrawing the Cubs. If the Sox can make the playoffs for a few years or win another title there worth will sky rocket while the Cubs are on a downward spiral.

The Sox will take over the city and come close to equaling the Cubs worth.

Post 17 is special too:

Said that if the Sox continue to win 90 games and be in races while the Cubs continue to fade early, the Sox will over take the city. And no Cub fever will not run Chicago if both teams are in the playoffs. I live in this city man. There are just as many of both fans. The Cubs may have a few more, but they are border fans.

This city is very divided right now. And it is anyones ball game now. Something it hasn't been in a long time. The Sox generate a lot of Buzz and once the Tribune company know longer owns the Cubs, they will no longer own the media in Chicago.

The Sox can't even get half the airtime on WSOX (The Score). :missingte
