With the AP preseason top 25 out is time for the annual "which top 15 team implodes" thread to find those top 15 teams that won't see the top 25 rankings at the end of the season. Only one team with 5 losses saw the top 25 in 2012 (Mich) and 2014 (barn) and none in 2013 so you're looking for an AP Top 15 team that will lose at least 5 games, including bowls.

2012 I had WVU (started #11, finished 7-6 & out of top 25) http://www.therxforum.com/showthread.php?t=913225
2013 I had FLA (started #10, finished 4-8 & out of top 25) http://www.therxforum.com/showthread.php?t=962207
2014 I had STAN (started #11, finished 8-5 & out of top 25) http://www.therxforum.com/showthread.php?t=995868

I am between 3 different teams right now...will post mine later this week

Choose from these 15 only:

AP Preseason Poll
1) Ohio State (61): 1,525
2) TCU: 1,428
3) Alabama: 1,322
4) Baylor: 1,263
5) Michigan State: 1,256
6) Auburn: 1,192
7) Oregon: 1,156
8) USC: 1,085
9) Georgia: 991
10) Florida State: 959
11) Notre Dame: 873
12) Clemson: 862
13) UCLA: 698
14) LSU: 675
15) Arizona State: 605

I'll go with USC since boosters are wanting their drunk coach fired right before the season starts.

I think USC, UCLA and Norte dame will all fall short of expectations. Note dame won't necessarily implode, they will just get eaten up by that schedule. I believe USC could be the biggest implosion.

Either the University of South Central implodes or makes the playoff. I can't decide which...

put the jersey crack down if you really think Alabama is losing 5 games this year and not finishing in top 25. :neenee:

they can certain come up short and lose 2-3 games but this thread is for a top 15 team that will not finish in top 25 which means, at minimum, 4 losses and more likely 5+

I think you have to start by looking at the toughest two divisions; the SEC west and Pac South....Auburn, UCLA, ASU

I think TCU goes 9-3, USC 8-4, and LSU 8-4 at best, possibly worse. TCU is not THAT good. As always people get enamored with bowl victories over uninspired teams. Ole Miss had no desire to be there, see Oklahoma two years ago over Bama. TCU's 100% is better than Ole Miss' 60%. This is the same TCU team that needed a miracle to beat an awful Kansas team, gave up over 60 to Baylor. USC is a dumpster fire at the moment and LSU might have a great defensive front 7 but with below average QB play, they will be on the wrong side of a lot of 10-6 games.

TCU winning their last game big against an SEC team in a bowl and Minnesota losing their bowl game to Missouri are the last things the public remembers about these two teams. Just remember, it's all about public perception when the season starts...

oh they definitely remember the TCU/Ole Miss game ... haven't heard this much august chatter about a meaningless bowl game since WVU posted a 70-burger on Clemson and look how well that worked for them the following season (preseason #11, finished 7-6)

Look how well it went for OU after beating Bama.... They were preseason double digit favorites in every game the next season and ended up going 8-5

i have them 7-5 but i would circle the Iowa game, just like last year, as the pivotal game. LY were 3-0 and favored by a score vs Iowa and were horrible and that game started a 1-6 stretch. Same thing this year...will start 2-0 and then the Iowa game COULD set them up for a special season. If they can get to 3-0 and go into bye week before VT they could have a hell of a season and win the Coastal. But in typical Pitt mode they will probably lost a 10-point 4th quarter lead in Iowa starting a 1-4 stretch, then beat Notre Dame as a big dog, end up 6-6, then lose a bowl game against Temple and see Narduzzi leave for an extra $1M to Illinois

AZ state looks to be very solid, but they play a brutal schedule. They bring a ton of starters back. I count 6 coin flip games. Could easily go 2-4

UGA's QB situation is scary. They might take this competition into the season. It could get ugly there if they don't have a competent QB.

I think FSU is most likely to fall hard. 4 new starters on o-line, new QB. 7 starters back on defense but they we'rent a very good defense last year. They will have targets in their backs in ACC play. No way they go undefeated in conference play again.
