Baseball, Football, Basketball, or Hockey,,,Which do you feel is easiest (none are easy) and why? I guess some would seperate college football and college basketball as different from the pro games...I have always been under the impression most people do best at basketball????

hockey - and it really isn't close. most books are CLUELESS when it comes to this sport. this is because of the 4 major sports - NHL gets the least amount of money bet on it. because of this they spend a LOT less time making lines for hockey than any other sport. if they put a bad line for a MNF game - the book is a parking lot when the game ends. put a bad line up for a hockey game and 4 people know about it. take the NHL game this entire season that got the most money bet on it - and compare it to the NFL game that got the least money bet on it - and i PROMISE you the nfl game got over TEN TIMES the amount bet on it.

take friday's nhl game between anaheim/ottawa as an example. for some reason these clueless books made ottawa a SMALLER fave against anaheim than they were against the kings - despite the fact anyone who knows anything about hockey (which again - leaves out most books) knows the kings are the MUCH better team. also - wednesday ottawa played its backup goalie and friday their played their #1 - one of the best goalies in the league. and knowing all this they STILL made ottawa a smaller fave against the better team than the worst. the result: Ottawa won 3-0 in a game anaheim was NEVER in - NEVER. this line opened ott -.5/-105 and closed around -120. i said in the nhl forum this was Xmas 2+ months early and it was. this just goes to show how CLUELESS the books are about the NHL and why it is BY FAR the easiest sport to win at.

College baskets followed by college foots. That's just for me though. Since I am retired with not much to do, I am willing and able to spend the time necessary to get a leg up on the plethora of college basketball games available on the rotation. I work the hardest on this and NCAA baskets is what I wait for.

I have as of this season, given up on the NFL.

As for baseball and hockey, although I have played both sports at a relatively high level, and they were probably my favorites certainly in terms of actually playing the games, I can't seem to break even in bases over the course of the season. Even a 2 month layoff I took this year didn't help much. This may be because I have a much harder time betting on moneyline dogs than I do pointspread dogs. It's just a mental thing with me.

Hockey and the NBA, I have dabbled in with little if any success and this I attribute to the focus I put on college basketball.

I am 3-0 lifetime on Nascar bets BTW.

Great Question-Easy Answer
BASEBALL (also greatest game)

One reason is because they play every day and a pattern is easier to see.

2nd(IMO) Basketball --But tough enough
3rd Football--VERY VERY TOUGH (Emotions Injuries, play bigger Roles in IMHO

Hockey
Nascar (Never bet it or follow it, but it is new to the books. There should be some soft lines)
Baseball

Windyduck may be right about Hockey. Disregarding Hockey, I'd have to say basketball now. Too much parity in NFL now, and despite what everyone says about baseball being the easiest, I just don't buy it, because it is probably the main sport that doesnt have huge mismatches such as baskteball and football. Some may argue that dominant pitchers are the major mismatches, but I think we've all seen a teams "ace" get rocked quite often.

Wish I knew Hockey but I don't, so for me its the bases!

I have to say that 20 cent lines make it a heckuva lot more difficult!

As with all betting - where you have an edge over the sports book. I would have thought college was most likely but definitely NOT football or baseball. Baseball because thats all the books have to concentrate on at the time of year and football because all the information is out there.
Thats why i like obscure things like jump horse racing, athletics and golf is good because there are just so many players the books can't keep up.

it also depends what you know
ive watched baseball every day since i was 5 and i still follow it 162 games a yr
i think the odds are mainly a joke
i did not bet on anything ivloving baseball at - anything i took 85 percent dogs and 15 % favs by 2
i can see how if you are equal in all sports hockey is easier but for me its baseball
in football and the nba i go about 500 and lose money on juice

Hockey is a great sport, but Golf gets bet more has better tv ratings and has better attendance. I find womens athletics easiset to beat, WNBA,WUSA,WTA,LPGA. I also have a field day on college athletics in male and female. NFL has mediocre athletes and as Bobby Knight says 80% of nba players have no idea how to play basketball. The most watchable sports for me too watch are ncaa basketball, and tennis.

Baseball hands down.

Books take a bigger risk with baseball.

And that might be the reason some have 20 cent and even 30 cent lines.

I think and have heard that its NBA hoops, specificly totals.

Maybe not the best for soft lines but all out capping Id say so. Many more factors to pick apart than in a short football season and books don't use a ML with the numbers too much as they do with pucks and bases. Its you vs the cap. My favorite anyways. The low limit on the NBA totals supports it too.
