Depends on the location.

If I felt no need to gamble at all or to give anyone a fair shake...

I would choose "bookie" in a large Vegas hotel!

Keep those dumb-assed tourists coming!

How many times have I been asked to crossover? Forget it. I would rather be the one putting frogs into a pond, then figuring out how to get rid of them. Actually I have a personality that is suited to attack, not receive...I prefer to be in control of my actions, not wondering if the players will do well...Best Wsihes...OF

Book....there are a ton of bad players out there and people who play for entertainment or due to addiction.

I've recommended sites like this to sports bettors and they STILL do not check them when making wagers.

omni frog........his response is a perfect example of the "personality" differences of bookmaker and player......

the player is different....ie. gambling philosphy, personality, his approach to gambling in general is different than the book...

for instance, Sick gambler wrote a thread on "value"....where he stated that betting a team at the m/l at -1800 (or some insane high odds) could hold value.......he made a valid argument....but ask the majority of bookmakers if they would ever lay money like that....and the answer is NO..regardless of the situation...
(and that includes laying -50000 if they sun will rise tommorrow..lol)

just a difference in philosphy i guess..

btw.....myself i like being the hammer

There is no doubt in my mind, having done both extensively - I would much matter keep score and take bets. No brainer imo.

no brainer lol...when you take bets it seems all the bad beats go out the window...I swear thats how its always been for me, always...

If only I never got stiffed...I have done both and if it all were legal well you know my answer...even if it was no juice involved I`d rather keep score too...
Collecting is by far the biggest pain , when to cut a guy off etc...then you get the customary "I`m good for it"...you get a guy who goes down 3-4 dimes and he`s a 1-2 dollar player and then wants to start betting dimes lol...thats a bookies problem

I suppose some do both, I would, but don't. Just playing is legally risky enough for me.

Booking is clearly illegal. Then the collecting ! Forget it !

I had problems collecting from my customers... when I was a paperboy !

The recreational player has it best IMO because he's actually enjoying himself! Booking is a job. There are high paying jobs, low paying jobs with advantages and disadvantages, but they're still jobs. Being a player you have freedom and you're having fun and that's a lot more than I can say for most jobs.
