Here are some tips …simple things we should all keep in mind….
1. HE NEVER SAID HE HID IT IN NEW MEXICO
He said its in the Rocky Mountains north of Santa Fe. That includes Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho as well as British Columbia and Alberta…and New Mexico. Possibly even Alaska.
2. HE NEVER SAID IT WAS BURIED
He said he hid it. That means it might be buried but since he never used the word buried it likely means that it is not.
3. HE SAID IT’S NORTH OF SANTA FE
Don’t bother looking at areas south of Santa Fe, NM. It’s not there.
4. HE SAID HE WAS 79 OR 80 WHEN HE HID IT
So it’s probably not some place terribly difficult to get to. So don’t expect to have to use advanced climbing techniques or kayak through Class 6 whitewater to find it. He wants you to have fun looking for it so although it’s difficult to find it should not require you to put yourself in danger. That being said you are responsible for the decisions you make looking…so be careful.
5. START AT THE BEGINNING
He has told us over and over that the smart place to start is where warm waters halt. Starting in the middle of the poem, for instance at the home of Brown, is not a good strategy.
6. IT’S DIFFICULT BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND
Forrest has said it takes brain work and research to figure out the clues. He also said “If it was easy anyone could do it.” Don’t head out to the first Brown Hotel you find. Don’t head for the first place to catch Brown trout. 9 out of 10 folks who have looked have already been to those same places you just found on the internet. Do serious research and start with where warm waters halt. The poem is a puzzle.
7. ITS ABOVE 5,000 FEET
This was Forrest’s clue on the Today Show. Duh…It’s in the mountains. Not much of that swath of peaks and plateaus known as the Rockies is below 5,000 feet. However you can eliminate those places that are at 4,999 feet or less.
8. THE BOOK CONTAINS SUBTLE HINTS
Forrest has said that the poem is all you need to find the chest and also has said that the book contains subtle hints that will help. So, if you cannot find the treasure after just trying to decode the poem, then maybe you should buy the book.

"After I hid the treasure I walked back to my car feeling very proud of myself and laughing out loud," he said. "I asked, 'Forrest, did you really do that?' There have never been any regrets.

Some searchers think Forrest hid his treasure chest in Yellowstone near the falls of the Firehole River. Forrest has admitted that this was one of his favorite places to swim when he was a kid. see picture above

Some of the bells Forrest made to bury deep in the ground. He has buried eight bells or jars with his name and date on them. Each is in a remote area somewhere and he said he could not go back and find them even if he wanted to. He plans to bury another dozen, including the ones pictured. These are 10-12 inches tall., Seems like this dude is burring random shit now wtf, we want the treasure

" Temperature-wise, the paper birch does best where summers are cool (maximum temperatures around 75 degrees Fahrenheit) and in regions where winter snows cover the roots.
The geographic distribution of the paper birch from east to west is the largest of the American birch trees. Paper birch grows from New England and eastern Canada west to Alaska, with much of Canada within its range. The tree also grows through the Great Lakes, into the Rocky Mountains and in parts of the Pacific Northwest.

Mr Fenn is cagey when it comes to giving away the location of the treasure, but insists there are those who have come close to it.
‘I have never said what I thought the treasure is worth because I don’t know,’ he said. ‘I have not said it is buried. I said that I hid it. But that is not to say it is not buried. I just didn’t want to give that as a clue.
‘There have been some who have been within 500 feet because they have told me where they have been. Others have figured the first two clues and went right past the treasure and didn’t know it.’

  • SUSAN MONTOYA BRYAN, Associated Press
ALBUQUERQUE (QP) - Search and rescue crews combed a rugged area of Bandelier National Monument early Saturday before finding a missing hiker who had traveled to northern New Mexico to hunt for the buried treasure of a Santa Fe antiquities dealer.
Medical personnel were called to the monument, but Bandelier spokeswoman Claudia Brookshire said early reports from the searchers indicated the woman appeared to be OK after spending a frigid night outdoors.
"It's been in the 30s at night, so that's definitely a concern," Brookshire said.
Dispatchers had received a call Friday from a man in Texas who reported that his girlfriend was missing.
The woman, whose name was not immediately released, arrived at the monument Thursday to hike to the Upper Falls. She called her boyfriend to let him know she would return the next day.
He called authorities after not hearing from her.
Members of the New Mexico Search and Rescue team and the Los Alamos Police Department set out to search the area along the Rio Grande near the Falls Trail and in the backcountry. They thought she headed east down the trail and away from the monument's headquarters.
The trail from the Upper Falls to the river crosses rough terrain, having been washed out by a flash flood in 2011.
Brookshire said the young woman came to New Mexico after being inspired by an interview with antiquities dealer, author and former art gallery owner Forrest Fenn that was aired last week on NBC's "Today Show."
Fenn sparked the treasure hunt in 2011 when he released his book, "The Thrill of the Chase," which features clues that could lead readers to the $2 million treasure he buried three years ago in the mountains north of Santa Fe.
Buried in an old bronze lockbox, the booty includes pieces of gold, a 17th century Spanish emerald ring, a ruby-studded bracelet, small diamonds and other items.
The missing woman's boyfriend told authorities she was attempting to find the treasure. The search involved dog teams, technical rescue experts and three aircraft.
A blast of winter weather hit parts of northern New Mexico on Friday and the higher terrain was expected to get another inch or two of snow by the end of Saturday. However, Brookshire said the storm missed much of the monument, leaving behind only the chilly temperature.Again, I would like to Caution you Rxer's not to send your wife or girlfriends on this treasure hunt. You guys are the professionals, stop chasing your bets and chase this thrill!!

Is it possible it's already been found? If I found it, I doubt I'd tell everyone.

Earlier today the Santa Fe cops detained and questioned a person who has been ringing Forrest’s gate bell on perhaps 10 occasions over the last two days. The person’s replies have often been incoherent at the gate. This person promised the police he would not come back and was released without charges. But a witness just saw this person sitting in a car parked a few homes away.
Who suggested getting this Fenn Drunk, looks like someone already stalking Him.

The treasure has not been found by anyone although many have claimed to have in their possession. When I ask them where it was they start asking me questions hoping I will tell them where it is. f

New Mexico man officials say was caught digging for buried treasure to face charges

State game and fish officials say they plan to file charges against a man who was digging for hidden treasure.

Department spokesman Dan Williams says the man was found digging under a descanso along the upper Pecos River at the Terrero Campground last month. A descanso is a marker where someone has died or their ashes scattered.

Williams says the man told officers he was digging for the chest of gold and jewels that Santa Fe artifact collector Forrest Fenn says he has hidden in the mountains north of Santa Fe. Fenn has published a memoir with a poem of clues to the treasure's location.

"He told our officer that he was looking for Forrest Fenn's treasure," Williams told the Santa Fe New Mexican.

Williams told the paper the man will be charged under a state law making it a misdemeanor to "excavate, injure, destroy or remove any cultural resource or artifact" on State Game Commission land.

The paper reported that Fenn wrote in the book, "I knew exactly where to hide the chest so it would be difficult to find but not impossible,” Fenn wrote. "It's in the mountains somewhere north of Santa Fe."
