NFL Draft begins Thursday night. Who do you think will be the first quarterback chosen? The top 6 being mentioned are 3 seniors and 3 juniors.

Seniors: Derek Carr (Fresno St.), A.J. McCarron, (Alabama), Zack Mettenberger (LSU).

Juniors: Black Bortles (Cent. Fla), Teddy Bridgewater, (Louisville), Johnny Manziel, (Texas AM).

Jon Gruden, ESPN guru said he didn't think the three juniors were physically or mentally ready and might be a work in progress for six months or a year.

All six of the quarterbacks listed above have positives and all of them have negatives. Who goes first??

I think it's either going to be Manziel or Bridgewater. It's tough to say. I think your taking a real gamble on Manziel. But there are a few desperate NFL francishes out there that will probably be willing to go for his skills and hope he keeps his head screwed on straight. Minnesota would definitely have to be considered a frontrunner for him. Maybe Oakland since they pick first. Whoever gets him will have to re-tweak their offense to fit an improv type of QB. You definitely don't want a QB like Manziel standing around in the pocket NFL style all day long. He needs to move, and have an offense that moves with him. Not every NFL franchise will be willing to change their ways of doing things just for him. So I believe his options are limited. But Manziel is still by far the most talented "college" QB of this bunch.

GS, I would have to have some pretty good odds before I would bet on who would go first.

For some reason, I think we are all going to be surprised.

Clover, it's most likely a total crap shoot unless this is a very straightforward draft, which they seldom are. At this point we just don't know what kinds of potential trades there are on the table. I heard today that there is a possibility that Sam Bradford will be traded. Which further muddies the situation, especially if Minnesota wants him. And if that should happen, it means St. Louis will be needing a QB. So let the domino affect begin...

I can only see two...maybe three quarterbacks going in the first round.

If Manziel goes at number five to Oakland as many forecast...Texas A&M could have three players in the top twelve. Offensive tackle Jake Mathews and wide receiver Mike Evans should go early.

After Manziel (if to Oakland) I have no idea who the next QB would be.

Definitely don't think it'll be Bridgewater. He didn't do himself any favors at the combine or otherwise. His stock has dropped last I seent. FWIW, absolutely not saying he will be the first QB taken (because I don't think he will) but I think Bortles will be one of the best QBs in this class when the dust settles and we see these guys on the field. And damn I love watching Manziel on the field.

I think it'll be Manziel, but if I was a GM I'd go w/ Bortles. He has the size, arm, and durability to last in the NFL. I think JFF is going to have a reality check. He's definitely talented but the NFL will adjust and he'll have to learn to stay in the pocket...which I'm not sure he's capable of doing (sure, he'll get outside and run as needed, but he does it too often. That won't work long-term in the NFL...especially at 6' 200lbs).

Didn't one of them just fail a drug test? I bet he has a good shot at being #1 to be drafted...
I think out of the 3 juniors that Black Bortles (Cent. Fla), Teddy Bridgewater, (Louisville) have a better chance. IMO Manziel will be hard to couch as he adlibs plays which more than likely will not work as well in the NFL. JMO
Seniors...Derek Carr (Fresno St.), A.J. McCarron, (Alabama) have a good chance. A.J. probably has an edge.

That was Mettenberger (LSU). And DT Jernigan (FSU). But FWIW, they failed due to a diluted sample. Which doesn't necessarily mean PEDs or other narcotics. But it's treated as a failing test.

I think if the Texans take a QB first, it will be Bortles. If not I think it will be Manziel. As mentioned bridgewater did not help his case in the combine.

I dont care where JFF ends up, as long as it isnt the facking browns. QB graveyard. As a cowboys and A&M fan, I would be happy if Manziel dropped that far GS(doubt that would happen) and Jerry says something racist. cheersgif Perfect draft IMO.

JFF probably hopes he doesn't get picked by Cleveland either. I don't see him being a cold weather QB anyway. The only way a bad luck franchise like Cleveland gets a good QB is if they use all of their picks on QB's. I still have my doubts about JFF. I just have that feeling that he's going to be one of these types of players who ultimately make a big Andrew Luck type of splash when he first comes in. But then the floor starts raising and the ceiling starts getting lower for him in a hurry. But it's a chance somebody will take. I'm sure he'll probably be the first QB taken...Physically, Bortles has the best body for the NFL. But despite Bridgewater's combine showing, if one of these NFL teams are looking first for what's between the ears and the ability to quickly pick up an NFL scheme, then he would probably win hands down among the top 5 prospects...

I think bortles has a better shot in the nfl than Bridgewater. For some reason he just doesn't impress me. I feel like he will get drafted, be the #2 qb for a few years then float around his nfl career. No doubt he has the ability to understand schemes but I think manziel and bortles both have the same ability.

This is really a questionable class of QB's this year. With the exception of Manziel they all come from weak conferences or non-bcs teams. So it's tough to tell. As for Bridgewater and Manziel, I think their success will depend on where they get drafted. If they draft Manziel and try to put him in a conventional NFL pocket passing offense, I don't think it's going to work. And Bridgewater will probably end up like Josh Freeman if he gets thrown to the wolves and drafted by a bad franchise. He'll end up getting kicked around the league. But if he lands on a decent team with a good QB coach, I think he could make it. Much of it has to do with the the luck of the draw.

Agreed, GS. I would love to see Manziel go to Philly and run Chip Kelly's new offense. Granted, I know that's a snowball's chance in hell and won't happen. Nonetheless, I think he would be a great fit for Kelly's upgraded offense. Regardless, Manziel needs to end up somewhere with a mature, hard working, established QB and learn how to make a career out of the game he's been having fun with his whole life.

I think we can all agree on that. Where they end up will make a huge difference

I thought Manziel was going to choke on his water bottle when Blake Bortles was drafted #3.

Should be interesting today to see where the other quarterbacks fall in line.

I'm kinda interested to see who goes first...McCarron or Mettenberger?
