If I decide to go cheaper than the $49 GN

Binions, LV club, and Golden gate all are $19, and probably others like Plaza,4Queens, Fitz would be $19

I know GG is old as Hell, and likely the worst one of the bunch.

Which DT place would you pick as #2 behind GN, and why ?

I've only stayed at one other than GN... it was Fitz, or maybe 4Q... OK enough.

Actually have stayed at El cortez before, but that one is out of the question.

I'm talking the DT ones under the light show.

Try going on Expedia and doing a search by hotel name and reading the reviews.

I just stayed at the El Cortez which was semi-decent. The only bad thing is that there is a nightclub nearby that stays open until 2:30am on Saturdays. It also had a lot of sirens.

Golden Gate rooms have all been remodeled, I think they even put flat screen TVs in them.
Vegas Club South Tower rooms are horrible and worn out if staying there pay the extra $ for a North tower room.
Using your criteria I would grab either 4 Queens,or Golden Gate. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at California, but it's not under the canopy.

$49 is busting balls?

$19 and still on the hunt?

Check out the LV downtown YMCA...They may still have the two hots and a cot gimmick for $5

Doug

Are you serious? Are you really going to Las Vegas and worring about 20 or 30 a night on your hotel?

Your next question has to be which hotel has $2 or $3 table games on Friday and Saturday night.

The Cal (west wing) was fine.Main St,Station was fine too.Las vegas Club (North tower) was a pleasant surprise.

I know someone mentioned Golden Gate remodeled their rooms-nothing wrong with taking a flyer there.

If you absolutely are insistent on getting bottom-of-the-barrel cheap rooms, the ones at the Golden Gate may be old and small, but the hotel at least has some character. Not to mention the best shrimp cocktail in the world right downstairs.

But it's not worth nickel-and-diming things in Las Vegas.
