Which Bowl teams can we expect to lay an egg due to lack of interest?

I didn't say that was the main reason, just one of many factors to look at...

So, Nevada must be coming into this game on an all-time high, after that impressive 38-7 loss to Boise St., huh?

I'll tell you what -- you take Nevada, I'll take the U, and we'll revisit this thread after the game.

I agree, it's only one factor.

I am comparing this factor to one of the factors in Don Dollars "Sucker Bets" thread in the NFL forum. This is only one criteria that might fit the Sucker Bet. I'll be happy to go through all 5 criteria on this game and if they all fit I will be sure to bet on Nevada.

none.... realisticly I dont think one team will not show up due to lack of interest. They are still playing in a bowl game, and their coaches will let none of this nonsense take place.

But, hypothetically:

-No underdog will be disinterested....absolutely none.
-No small favorite will be disinterested either.
-Teams that were never a factor late for BCS or a major bowl will not be disinterested
-basically look for the bigger favorites who narrowly missed a BCS game or lost their last game. However these are often the best prepared teams in the nation week in and week out.

I still do not think disinterest will be a factor, but like the concept. The cities make these events a big deal, and the few days the teams spend in the city before they go can really get a team fired up.... they are treated like professional players basically. I guarentee each and everyone of them love it no matter the game they are in.

How motivated can we expect the unranked Canes to be?

Playing in Boise, Idaho, an evening game, on New Years Eve vs. a WAC team?

Havent bet that game yet, but did heavily bet Michigan.

Miami won't be motivated I agree, but their talent level compared to Nevada is a joke

Revenge for TEXAS.........IOWA crushed them in their last bowl meeting........the score was 55-17 I believe.

You think a game in 1984 is relevant to this one? LOL

That's what I like to hear. It's my only bowl play so far, and it's a LARGE one...and I'm not done pressing unless I find something I don't like.

I would be careful going against the 'Canes in this spot...

True, they may be unmotivated & I'm sure none of these guys want to be in Boise. BUT, these guys love Coker & may just want to get the win for him going away... So, the motivational aspect may actually work in their favor.

No one has really been able to do much against the Canes defense this year, and I don't expect it to be any different with Nevada.

Plus, Miami is coming off a hard-fought win over BC, while Nevada is coming off a home embarassment to Boise St.

cant count that nevada loss to boise imo. they obviously laid down for the money from boise making the bcs. i dont like the way the points have shifted in this. opened at nevada -3 and immediately went to a pick. i dont know current pointspread but thats a pretty big swing already and the game isnt for another 24 days. the crowd im sure will be pro nevada. cant see many canes backers traveling to boise on new years eve.

how about clemson? they were primed for an ac title run and blew it down the stretch. now they have to play kentucky which cant excite them so if they are not careful they could get bit in the ass on this one. jmo.

You had a very nice Bowl run last year as I recall.

Even a few gifts along the way that didn't hurt.

I agree and I posted that a couple posts up. If Kentucky can get its defense in gear they can send the Tigers back to S.C. with a L.

If you look at Bowden's press conference, he doesnt seem all that thrilled about the Music City Bowl because he's not a fan of the Music from there and miffed Spurrier gets a raise for the same record he got.

Think about Georiga Tech.

They just lost to Wake in the ACC championship game in Jax. The Gator Bowl wanted to pick Clemson for their bowl game as their first choice from the ACC because runner GA Tech just played there.

But because of a rule, the Gator Bowl contractually had to pick Tech to play in their bowl game. So they're going back to Jacksonville to a bowl that really didn't want them and playing WVU. I doubt the fans are that excited as well.

TEXAS....those kids quit after the K State loss. To lose to A&M at home they packed it up. Even Iowa will take care of them this time.:thumbsup2:

IMO, them being an unranked team losing their last two averaging 9 points of offense playing on New Year's day is a gift.

Texas QB situation really makes them even more of a choice to stink it up...would Iowa be motivated though?

Good question. Id think they should be as this win would be the biggest win for them all season, unless you count the win over ISU...ho hum. Also, Tate being from Texas and playing against a team that likely didnt recruit him would be a big motivator(or maybe they did try and recruit him, that I don't know). I wouldnt think Texas would be motivated by much other than being in their home state, this is a big drop from the national title game.
