Well lately i have been doing a bunch of college basketball bets locally to make some money. Small amounts here and there. The thing is im not really making any money. I never seem to make good plays or anything.

I know alot of people do tons of research, and im willing to do that too. I just dont understand where to search, what to look for, etc. I do more of picking sides, not totals.

Can anyone help me out?

thanks in advanced

There are "TONS" of sites that offer free stats. Some are useful and some are worth exactly what you pay.

The first thing you need to do is figure out which stats are important to you. Seclecting a site that offers that particular stat is the next thing.

Find a method/system/model/program, or any viable process you can rely on, to assist with picking winners. Then apply the information to that process. d1g1t

SUCESSFULLY investing in the outcome of sporting events is not glamourous nor easy. But remember, "you'll never go broke picking winners" (<)<

yes, i know that there are tons of sites.

so far i have looked accuscore, which seems alright, and like the supergrids and superstats bodog gives you the trends and everything like that.

what do you mean like a method/system/model/program ?

It's kind of late to get into the CBB season. I think you should pack it in until next year. No stats can give you what you get out of watching the teams and the players.

completely true. I noticed that. Ive been watching everything i can, getting ready for march madness.

These wagers are very small locally with my friends. Its not like Im betting dimes online, that would be stupid.

I guess the best research is just watching the teams play.

go to the library, or bookstore, & find a good book on sports handicapping, so you can learn how to develop a winning strategy. Then you will know what to research. Otherwise you will be flying blind.

Stats give some % of plays, but it seems that as the season goes on especially with bubble teams and teams getting in the tourney.
Got to look at more heart and drive. I've been doing reasonably well earlier with the stats, but seems like gotta look at the teams
and injuries and who wants it more now gearing up into tourney play.

After Selection Sunday, get a copy of The USA Today Newspaper. They ALWAYS have an entire sports section devoted to nothing but this years NCAA Tournament with all the stats and stories for each team. It is alot easier to have it on paper when doing research for filling out brackets than having to go from web site to web site.

If you spend more than 15 minutes a day , wasting your time. Follow along and enjoy!

Nova / Notre Dame OVER 156

I completely agree about this play. It should be a classic shootout. I think these teams combine for 170+ tonight. BOL to all tonight.

Successful handicapping is a creative process. There are many ways to go about it, but few that will lead to consistent, successful outcomes.

The learning process is not far different from going to college. Take jdub's recommendation, read books to stimulate your thought process. There are also articles and/or systems posted on these boards from time to time. Put together a library with good referencing so that you can find the situational information when you need it.

Once you've graduated from handicapping college, and once you have a foundation, you can work on your doctorate, independent research. That's when the revelations will come. Again, you've got to document your stuff well. I find that to be the toughest part.

If it sounds tough, it is. The old adage of "nothing worth havin' comes easy in life" applies to gambling, successful gambling that is.

Good luck.
