I am sick of the news being slanted to the left and to the right and want to know the most unbiased news sources. A woman at work tried to say McCain had ties to the Mob and I asked where she heard that and she said the News. I feel people are being brainwashed and want to give them and myself the best reading materials possible. Thanks

honestly you just have to read, a lot. you will be able to see through what is clearly partisan and what is not. try to get both sides of an issue and then look for a place to fact check it...

a good place to start is both of the candidates websites. obviously these will give you what the candidate wants you to hear but it also has their ideas outlined so that when someone wants to tell you "Obama is against clean coal" you can see on his site he is actually in favor of it.

Its tough. I used to just get all the sports scores from 2 sources and check a third if there was a discrepancy.

After hanging out in the poli for a while I always check 6 sources.

Am I the only one who thinks Yahoo Sports is a Vile Steaming Pile of Shit?

It's not easy, there is so much bullshit out there. I think a candidates history is important. How does he actually vote on the issues, not how does he spin those votes today. Does he have a history of espousing tax cuts? If not, why would you believe he's going to cut taxes? I don't believe you can change the spots on a leopard, so knowing what's in a man's soul is important when evaluating his policy proposals.

There is no unbiased objectivity from any news source in this country, you have to tune it out.

I don't believe either candidate is going to cut taxes, but McCain is far less likely to raise them.

I don't believe either candidate is going to balance the budget, much less reduce the debt, but I also believe Obama is much more likely to increase spending and expand earmarks. He's an earmark whore, and that's no joke. It's in the history books.

As for Fanny & Freddie, I think it's a stretch to blame the Republicans for those programs and their failures over Democrats, although there is plenty of problems on both sides on a variety of issues.

my only point is that the record can be misleading.

i believe mccain is in favor of tax cuts but he voted against the bush tax cuts twice and i yet to hear why...

i don't believe mccain had any foresight into the fanny and freddy disaster but i do believe that the dems as a party are more responsible for it. maybe something like 60/40...

i agree on the obama being an earmark whore, you won't get an argument out of me on it. but i have a bigger problem with the guy who says he against them and then votes for the bailout chalk full of pork.
