I have had a sports wagering "education" that is unmatched. Very little of it has anything to do with handicapping.

trial n error.. the first bet i made was on the angels +1.5 as a sophomore in college for 50 bucks... that was about 4 years ago I think... i thought i one when the game went to extra inninngs n boston was at home.. then big poppi hit a 2 run shot n i lost... you can't learn from anybody else except your own bets you startin learnin that line movements in your favor aren't always the best, a win is never a win unless its an over, etc.

Not to get attention ...cause I am out of the scene now.....but,
I definitely learned the most about sports wagering while dancing and running the book at The Lodge gentlemans club in Dallas. I ran the book for 4 years and met lots of high rollers while working there and also ....I learned of THE RX while I was there !!!

I learned from my mistakes & learned to understand each sport inside & out, couple that with following all levels of sports to know quality of talent, & use common sense which has helped me the most. It also doesn't hurt to know some good people in different walks who provide info as well.

I also learned to not let others' beliefs tell you how to wager. I kept hearing for years that a volume player can't win, you have to do units this, units that, yada yada yada yet regardless of the sport, I have one profitable season after another.

I also kept an open mind & bet what others don't care about. This is why I dominate in women's hoops in college or pros, 1-aa/fcs football, etc.... I also will back what most wouldn't dare as it isn't about winning %, it is about +/- at the end of the season.

Such a good point. I laugh at these people who post 60% winning percentages only play 40 games a year. I'll take my 54% on 300 plays.

Yes, I know exactly the types you are talking about. I used to get so much flack for the volume of plays which I mainly only do in I-AA/FCS football now. However I would get knocked for that or hitting a low %. When I would see the latter argument, I knew then & there that these people were clueless. So hitting sub 50% is bad even though I am up big in the + column. The volume of plays usually stemmed from winning margin plays where I have a certain range I'd cover.

I could care less if I hit 30%, as long as I see + at the end of the season, I did my job.
