Out of all of the liberals on this board I can't believe nobody is crying about Rush Limbaugh getting crusified for speaking his mind! Oh whoops, yes I can believe it because it doesn't fit your agenda. It all makes since now.

He has the right to say whatever he wants -- hate speech, racism, idiocy, whatever -- but ABC/ESPN isn't required in any sense to give him the paid forum to do so. Gimme a break man, this has nothing to do with freedom of speech. True first amendment supporters understand the distinction.

Add to that Rush was completely incompetent and out of his league to begin with, he should never even have been hired. Send him back to radio where he can insult liberals and minorities - he's good at that.

His comments were not racially motivated. It was the truth. McNabb is very overrated. It was his opinion. ESPN hired him to be controversial and he was.

Kman,

He said that the reason McNabb was overrated was that because "the media was desirious that a black quarterback do well". Does he name names in the media? No. Does he offer any evidence of this? No. Does he give any source for this? No. Does he offer to prove this?

Like, veteran pro football writer Peter King from CNN/SI said, it wasn't racist, it was ignorant. (But I forgot - CNN is part of the vast liberal media conspiracy).

Now I stick to my statement that he was incompetent to begin with. What football or sports reporting background that warranted him getting that kind of job in the first place. My only regeret is that I didn't pay more attention to his picks - like Houston too upset Kansas City. Now that I think of it, I lost a good fade.

Having proof of something to back up your opinion has never stopped libs in the past so why is it different now?

I thought this wasn't supposed to be a political libs vs. conservs issue.

The bottomline is he had no business making such a statement, he should have known it would anger people and he had no business as football analyst in the first place. Good riddance Rush. You guys should be happy anyway, now he has more time to spend bashing liberals and minorities.

But context is everything, he could have said what he said on his radio show and nobody would have blinked an eye. There's a time and a place for most anything, but ESPN Sunday Countdown was not the time or place for a racially charged statement about the media.

D2Bets - Good points. I don't like or dislike Rush. He IS pretty arrogant. I don't listen to him, especially since it's football season.

I guess I am more upset about the double standard in this country. Dusty Baker talks about white people's skin not being condusive to playing in the sun and no big deal. Rush says something and he is forced out.

That's not right!

Take it easy,

Does anyone remember in the mid-80's when Jimmy the Greek mentioned something about blacks being bigger and faster because slave owners bred the big black men with the big black women? I believe he was fired from his commentator job.

KMAN,

Not 1 of us "libs" had said anything negative about Rush or his comments before you posted this thread. So, really what is your point ? I dont necessarily agree with his political views, but I didnt take the opportunity to kick him when he was down. Neither did any of the other "libs", yet you still find a way to twist it around and make it seem like we are being unfair to Rush when we hadnt said a word about it.

You know very well if Clinton ( or anyone you dont agree with ) had said the same thing all you "conservs" would have been in here condemning his soul to hell.

It's just more reverse racism at work in job places. The libs have been successful at reverse racism in getting people into schools because of race and keeping the white folk out because they are white.

Once again the silent majority is coming out once every couple years to protest this BS as the election booths. Conservativism is on a roll folks and the best of times are ahead of us!

I posted offshore that Rush did nothing wrong IMO. I interpeted Limbaugh's comments as calling the media 'reverse-racists', and not as saying anything remotely close to racist.

Bass Ackwards world we live in when somebody is fired for racist remarks when he was actually questioning someone else for racism.

That said, Limbaugh, of all people, should have known the results of such a comment. A stupid remark IMO.

I think there is 1 thing most of us here can agree upon. Limbaugh had no business on an NFL pre game show. That would be like sending Micheal Irvin to host "Meet the Press".

You're dead on Bunyon. did you see the one pre-game show where he was talking about the Rams being overrated cause they hadn't been to the Super Bowl under Mike Martz.

In all honesty I didn't know anything was going on with limbaugh but then again I don't pay any attention to him.

Either way, of course he's got the right to free speech just like anybody else, thankfully I've got the right not to listen when idiots like rush talk.
