I doubt Trump looks at who is where ideologically in terms of who he picks. He looks at it more in the marketing and promotion sense. Who can help him win states and Kasich with his low negatives, name recognition and strong swing state approval rating would've likely been his choice. No brainer really.

One thing I have come realize about Trump - he talks and talks and talks and talks...often out of both sides of his mouth confusing everybody, friend and foe, in order to flip the narrative in his favor. So I'll ignore his showmanship and 'tweets' and render judgment on his policies and how he governs.

As I've said before, any right winger shooting people in theatres or blowing up federal buildings.....I hope they get shot and killed by police or anyone else. Why do you want murderers to run free?

I would just sum it up in two areas: One, comparative advantages allow some countries to produce certain goods better than us, which we benefit from. And two, we become enriched when our best businesses are able to scale globally. The gains are spread while the losses are extremely concentrated, thus making this a more polarizing issue than it is.
The difference we have is you think trade deals are the problem, while I think the negatives from trade deals are exacerbated by other bad policies relating to all that other stuff.
And also obviously I think automation and technology makes this not the primary issue to focus on.
