do you always take it? Personally, I only scalp when I see a scalp that I wouldn't play. If I bet something early and have the opportunity to scalp it later I won't take it. Usually that means it was a play I felt strongly about in the first place so why give up perceived value? WHat is everyone elses thoughts on this?

Wish I had taken this advice after I took the illinois 1st half against wisconson in the big ten tournament.

I do it when I plan for it by having extra on original position, that means counting on a line move. Therefore I'm left with what I want on original bet.

I'll scalp anything in real-time, but that's tougher.

I will always scalp/middle at least part of the bet, unless one of the sides is at a book which I know takes action against winners, and this tends to be the case more often than not when I find a scalpable/middleable line. Since there's only a finite about of money I can win from these books, I prefer just betting one side in this instance.

If I don't believe both books will take action against winners, I will scalp/middle at least part of the bet, weighting my bet towards the side that I think is the right side. I bet Illinois -500 the other day and bet it a bit bigger than I would on a typical bet "knowing" that I would be able to get a scalpable ML. I can get W. Milwaukee +620 now, and will put a bit on that, but because I think Illinois -500 is the right side, I will weight my bet accordingly.

Nice find at -500! I'd weight it so you lose nothing on UMW and win all on illinois....or just keep it as illinois is going to win (by 9, 10, or 11 I hope).

Right so let's say hypotheically you have 5,000 to win 1,000. You could come back with 800 to win 4,960 at +620. Then you'd have 40 to win 200 on Illinois. Turn Illinois -500 into Illinois +500. Neat trick, eh? lol
