You should unplug your laptop and let it run on battery at least once a day. My computer was having trouble staying charged and when I brought it in they told me it to let it run on battery alone rather then having it plugged it. Not exactly sure why, but that's what i was told

It's not new, but I think over time..I have been draining the Battery by keeping it in..Or maybe what you said.

taking the battery out and power goes out for a second, you have to restart over again.

doesn't happen too often but even once a session is a drag, always plugged in for me and like it was said, run it on battery power and let it drain completely every now and then.

even when brand new my hp battery was good for maybe 2 hrs... now closer to one after a couple of years.

I have a Mac and think I read somewhere that if you use your laptop with the battery in and plugged in a lot, you should let the battery drain at least once a month. Just use it until it shuts itself down automatically then recharge it.

think mine is about 3 hrs

My battery always stays in when using electricity, has no effect on the battery.

My Dell is 3 years old, can run 4 hours without electricity, however todays models can go 8 + hours.

Mine only lasts about two hours, but I have a 17 inch screen. You should take the battery out if you are going to leave the computer plugged in all day.

I keep my battery in when plugged in, however, my old laptop battery finally gave out after 6 years when doing this all day everyday. You should routinely run the laptop on battery use only and drain the battery completely and then recharge it. This not only keeps the battery life longer but also keeps the performance of your laptop better. As the battery life deteriorates you will see the gradual slowdown of your computer and the cost of a new battery is prohibitive enough that it's better just to get a new computer.
