way easier to do it online or over the phone, I usually do it over the phone actually. You punch in the routing number and and checking account number....that's about it and save writing a check, the cost of a stamp, driving to a mailbox, etc.

anybody that uses a computer should not be mailing monthly checks for utility bills, esp. those that have used Neteller.

When I lived in the US I was in the post office weekly even though I paid some bills online..I used to mail in my rent check (never lost one) and used the mail for many items. Xmas times I did all my shopping online and had the items mailed to me if they were not to big then it was UPS.

steak sounds like my Dad, he refuses to make any financial transactions online as he just doesn't trust it. I can't even remember the last time I mailed a letter. I remember going through boxes of checks quite quickly years ago, now one box lasts me easily a year or more.

did you ever try it, steakie ?

actually you usually don't even need a computer just a touch-tone phone ! You can do it via websites but I prefer the telephone.

I never sign up for the automatic payment stuff, this way I get the bill in the mail and can review it, then decide if I want to pay it, dispute it... or ignore it. They all want you to auto-pay it, so they no longer have to send you a paper bill. I don't trust them to just deduct whatever from my checking acct ( esp. Comcast).

I'll never write a check and mail it for utilities ever again, I'm still in control by not using the automatic payment plans, still get a paper bill like always, I've done this for years. Works for Insurance and most everything. I have to log-in to a website to pay my quarterly water bill, all others can be done over the phone.

It takes like two minutes ( or less) to do it over the phone, no writing out a check and going to a mailbox and you save a stamp or 44 centavos to boot, and it cannot be lost.

You are in the stone ages if you mail monthly checks for utility bills.

I don't think I've mailed ten items this year, I receive mail....but I don't send it

same for checks, I write a monthly one to the condo ass, but I hand deliver it.

I rarely mail anything or write a check other than the condo fees one.

I do receive mail though, just never send any.

Yeh, Tex ! I believe you are about my age or a few years younger, I'm 47.

You can pay via phone if you are 80 and know nothing about computers, ain't that hard !

I write 12 checks a year to the condo asses, maybe 3 odd ones a year on top of that for 15 a year a box of 200 checks is like a lifetime supply for me ! I wouldn't want to be a check printer businessman.

I hate mailing anything and can go many months with never sending a thing. The last thing I mailed was a flat to my attorney when the fax wasn't readable enough.

I can't remember the last time I actually read a book, must be 20 years if you discount gambling books.
