I read that Tim and Tom sold the Hotel and made an $80 million profit for approx. a 2 year period

They made a little more than that since they separately sold off the GN Laughlin for $31 million. They still own and run the place, it will probably take close to a year to finish the transaction with Lorenzo Fertitta, the cousin of the Fertitta brothers that run the Stations and owner of the Landry's chain of restaurants. They broke even with the place because they had bad luck. The hold percentage was low thanks to a bunch of lucky gamblers. The TV show, as bad as it was, still brought pretty good action to the casino and traffic to its floor.

How far is the airport from the hotel? I was thinking of a cab or renting a car ... of course, a limo would be much better.
I would try to make arrangements to get to the hotel by another means other than a cab if at all possible. The problem w/ catching a cab from the airport is the CAB LINE. Depending on what time you get there you may be waiting for 20 minutes or so outside in a line in the middle of a desert in the middle of summer whilke carrying your bags. It is not a good way to start your trip. If a hotel will not send a car for you , I would suggest just calling a car service before you leave for LV and spending the extra $30 or so to avoid the CAB LINE.
