I have never been before. When is the best time of the year to go? I am a sports gambler and craps player. I would assume sometime during football season, no?
Where would I get the most value (casino, rooms, etc)?

I agree with Sun. March Madness. An extra bonus is a bunch of spring break college snuss roaming around.

Agreed. Anytime is great, as I go multiple times a year. But March Madness cannot be beaten. It may be better value to bet offshore, but there's nothing like watching a game in a Vegas sportsbook. Before I'd been there, I thought that maybe it was common courtesy to control your cheers, in case the guy next to you had the other team. Ha! It's like being at a game, only better. Everyone is drinking beer, and everyone has money on the game, cheering with every basket. Even if you bet like a sharp for the weekend, and end up down, it is a blast!

You cannont beat MARCH and OCTOBER for the weather.

March will provide the thrill of March Madness and in October, football will be in full-swing.

Those would be my two choices.

ps- Avoid NEW YEARS EVE at all costs!

If you want to stay in a great hotel and don't want to break the bank arrange to stay SUNDAY - THURSDAY - the LA weekend crowd hasn't hit town so the rates are way lower. July nad August way too hot.

March Madness, There is nothing like it. Started going in Mid 80's and wouldn't miss it for anything short of a emergency

weve been there at all times of year about 50 times over the past 20 years.
i strongly recomment mid may to memorial day and mid sept to oct - for the best weather by far.
gambling wise- may does have nba and nhl playoffs- and bases
sept has bases and mlb playoffs and football.
its way too hot june thru aug- not always but you could easily hit 110 all week.
oct thru april is not summertime there and most of the pools arent heated.

Lived there for 11 years... Opening weekend of March Madness is the best. Gotta be there for all 4 days!

March Madness sounds great, but I would have wifey in tow, so she'd wanna spend some time with me and she wouldnt want to hang out in the sportsbook. Im thinking October for NFL...

For room value, the two weeks before XMas are about the cheapest it gets. Of course it is pretty damn cold then with the wind.

SuperBowl weekend, March Madness, Breeder's Cup, or any Heavyweight Championship fight(the jet-set & ringers galore in town) would make my top four.

Anytime is great.
Most people spend 99% of their time inside, especially the sports bettors. I've talked to many people who were visiting her in the heat of summer and don't recall anyone saying "it's too hot." (Or maybe I was just ignoring their whining if they did
