I'm sure that Wil will take this under serious consideration, but at the same time (with all due respect) this is a bit silly. Asking if a message board (any board) should have PM is like asking if your new car should come with a radio. Of course, the car can function just fine without a radio, but it's a complete given that you'd want one, doesn't even merit discussion. Having polls and "asking management" is like agonizing over the choice of something so trivial that its . . . well, dumb.

The issue of spam is also silly. 1 - I agree that most PM systems are, generally speaking, kept free of spam. Its just not very effective for most spammers 2 - what's the harm? I have about 10 other possible sources of spam on the web, most people just take it as a given that spam exists. It's not like anyone is going to say, "I was spam free until The RX gave me a PM account, damn them!".

Before you make assumptions, decisions like adding a PM system is not my call. This forum opened in 1999 I guess and whoever was in charge of making the decision to not use a PM system has chosen not to for almost ten years, which is the perogative of any business owner.

If I own a restaurant but do not want to serve alcohol that is my decision and despite serving no alcohol I still have a restaurant that attracts clientele if my food is good. In the end it is up to the person or persons who invested millions in a business how they want to run it.

TheRx. is totally free to join or not even join as you can read every page free as an unregistered lurker, all of which empowers the ownership to run the site anyway they see fit.

Naturally we want to listen to our posters and their suggestions but for every pro PM poster there is one who is against the idea.

I don't think anyone can argue that we do not strive to improve the site constantly and there is a very good chance that PMs may be the next addition to the site that hopefully will make the entire Rx experience more enjoyable for the people who visit the site free of charge day in and day out.

In my long post above I asked that you give us a couple of weeks to make a decision. Right now my time is taken up mainly getting Rx Bash 2008 organised plus my boss is out of the country and enjoying a rare vacation.

Lastly we do not take into consideration what other forums are doing when it comes to making changes to our forum, management is adament about doing what is best for the Rx because it makes sense to do so not because some other forum is doing somthing different that us. Our bread and butter is not this forum but our sport forums and they have to be taken into consideration whenever a major change is made.

Have a little patience and I will let everyone know what is going to happen regarding PMs as soon as I know myself. I go through this debate every year and up to now the answer has been no but that could change as the industry evolves, time will tell.

I must be dense because I don't get this

Dagger = 2 nasty

Was a great post. Killed it. Someone should suck you off for that post. Probably georgejefferson, since he wants to be forum leader and would be willing to do it for your vote.

Wil, we're certainly not asking you to change anything now but simply discussing the idea. I would also add to your analogy that if you had clients in a restaurant and it was a successful business but comment cards came in every year suggesting you change your hours I think the idea of changing the hours would come under serious consideration.

I just don't see any reason why not. If it doesn't hurt but only helps then why not? The people that don't want it just don't have to use it. It's really that simple.

Didn't mean to start some huge argument. I actually thought I read in a previous post that it was right around the corner and was wondering what the timeframe for something like that would be....Anyways, I really tihnk it would be a great addition to the site and I've seen many sites implement it effectively....Hopefully RX can do it, however, if not it is cool....

Also, to the poster who said it will happen when 5star pays me $300, I'm glad you think someone getting stiffed for $300 is funny. Happy to amuse you....

I missed this post originally, as stated before - triple dagger.

Should have just closed the thread after this. Well done. :toast:

Marty Jensen Steps Out From The Shadows
Christopher Costigan, www.sports911.com

shadowman.gif
Accountant, restaurateur, internet casino owner (MainStreetCasino.com, TwinAcesCasino.com et al.), and now sports betting portal owner (TheRx.com), Marty Jensen is certainly a man of all trades but at the same time he has always been somewhat of an enigma to the online gambling community....that is, until now.

In this first ever interview with Mr. Jensen, Sports911.com has worked in conjunction with Brian Cullingworth of Infopowa, a weekly newsletter covering the online gaming industry, as a means of answering the many questions gamers have in regard to Jensen. We've attempted to get behind the persona.
Speaking to Jensen, it is hard to imagine he is any of the things people over the Net refer to him as. A lot of the animosity thrown his way no doubt comes from his dealings with the country of Denmark nearly three years ago, something he now admits could have been handled much better.
Brian originally outlined a number of set questions that Sports911.com has attempted to follow to the tee with some exceptions. The first question, in particular, drew Marty's ire.
The online gaming persona "Marty Jensen" is widely perceived as being mysterious, uncommunicative and even somewhat sinister - can you give us some personal background on yourself?
Marty was quick to point out that he is none of these things, quite the contrary. Marty seemed most incensed by the suggestion that he is uncommunicative.
"I am very open and a good communicator," Jensen insisted.
Getting beyond that, Marty gave us some personal background information
<o:p>"I have three mistresses, I smoke crack every day and I love to swim naked in public pools."</o:p>
No, No, No....Marty did not REALLY SAY THAT! We just figured that was what you were all waiting for.
In truth, he is a family man with a solid educational background.
Marty Jensen: I've had a public accounting practice for about ten years in Vancouver. I'm (also) in the hospitality industry. I have a bar and restaurant in Vancouver. This is all in conjunction with other stuff. We have the (online) casinos I'm sure you are aware.
Sports911: How did you end up involved in the online casino industry?
<o:p>Marty Jensen: What happened was six years ago I went down to Costa Rica to look at a land deal. This guy down there started talking about online gambling and it just talk off from there. It sounded pretty exciting. He seemed to have the contacts to set it up and I had the money so we started it in August 1999.</o:p>
<o:p>Sports911: Are you as a Canadian concerned about running online casinos? We all know that your counterparts from the United States are a bit antsy over legal ramifications.</o:p>
<o:p>Marty Jensen: Up here (in Canada) it is an entirely different mentality. Canadians are much more liberalized. You probably have seen in Canadian news, legalizing marijuana, gays can and do get married. In Vancouver, they just set up intravenous shops for guys with serious heroin problems with the thinking it will cut down on AIDS and of course Bush is not happy about our liberal attitude and that extends down to internet gaming. You never hear anything about trouble up here with exception of Starnet but that was supposed to have involved child pornography. It is a much more relaxed environment. </o:p>
SEX LIES AND CUSTOMER LISTS
Alleged improprieties between one of Jensen's employees and the female owner of a gambling portal site have ruffled many feathers in the player community, particularly with a group of individuals who claim the female involved traded sexual favors for one of Jensen's online casino customer lists.
As the story goes, this portal owner was flown in to see the employee. She went down on him in a moving vehicle then the two of them arrived at the house proceeding to engage in sordid passionate Kama Sutra moves that would make even Mahatma Gandi blush with shame. The two of them did it everywhere, on the kitchen sink, on the back lawn, on the neighbors back lawn and every position imaginable. She had one orgasm after another, waking up everyone on the block with her screams of ecstasy. The sultry encounter was said to have lasted nearly seven steamy hours. Due to the fact that this is a family site, we will not get into any of the more graphic details.
Somewhere in the midst of this lascivious encounter, the employee is alleged to have provided this portal owner with the names and other confidential information pertaining to various players.
<o:p>Marty Jensen: I am 100 percent certain that there was no information passed from (employee name withheld) to this individual. I am also a player and play on internet casinos and I would be absolutely unhappy if I knew my information was being bandied about. We really go the extra mile in protecting people's privacy. There are only a few people with access to this information. If there is any misappropriation of this information, that person is terminated immediately, and that includes everybody. I've also known (employee name withheld) for 15 plus years and have known his family and he is - you may not always agree with him - but definitely a man with integrity.</o:p>
<o:p>Sports911: But he did sleep with this girl right?</o:p>
<o:p>Marty Jensen: Well, that is not necessarily a reflection of his integrity. That part did happen.</o:p>
<o:p>Sports911: Here is the thing, are you saying that the employee in question didn't have that type of access?</o:p>
<o:p>Marty Jensen: No, he had access, but there is no material reason for him to do that (which he is accused of doing). If he was going to try and profit from this information he would sell it to another casino owner. </o:p>
There is no longer any business relationship with this particular individual (who runs the casino portal in question) anyway. I don't even want our casinos to be on her forum any more. There is just no longer any business relationship with this individual.

biggamer I don't think so....

He emailed me recently saying 70% he pays by the start of NFL season, 30% he pays by week 5 or whatever....

Personally, I'd like to bet him not paying me by the time NFL season starts at equivalent odds of +230...

Explain to me why this was posted here? No idea. There is no big secret that Marty Jensen is once again Rx.com General Manager. However right now he is abroad with his family on vacation. I am assisting departing Rx GM Rick Allec (who is stepping in for Marty while he is on vacation) organize and run Rx Bash 2008. His last official act as Rx.com GM.wil.
